it was sunday.
junhui was out with a few friends; chan, hansol and his boyfriend seungkwan, and the addition of a junior by the name of soonyoung. the boys were underneath the shade of a wide tree, as the sun was beating down and making them soak in their own sweat.
"one hundred pick up lines to win a librarian's heart." all eyes went to chan, who was looking from his phone to the small group of boys with a cheeky grin.
"i'm sure that'll come in handy for you." jun mumbled. the past few weeks had been just lovely for chan. he had become close with the cat-eyed librarian, and the fact that jun was unable to do the same with minghao bothered him.
seungkwan laughed. "i forgot that you two had an interest in librarians."
"maybe i do." jun huffed, a pout lining his lips. "he probably thinks i'm weird, though."
soonyoung, who was quietly munching on banana flavored pocky in the corner, spoke up. "i doubt that. you're a good guy, jun."
"he's a librarian. and i have, like. ten fines."
"and who's fault is that?" soonyoung mused, words muffled by the excessive amount of snacks he was stuffing into his mouth.
jun sighed. he felt that he had made the boy uncomfortable yesterday, and was only given a hug out of pity. was he rushing things? even though it had been two weeks, he only talked to minghao a little, and occasionally made him blush. he shouldn't have picked him up. it was rude and unnecessary.
"hey, jun. i dare you to use on of these on minghao."
"what? no." he wasn't going to make any mistakes. it wouldn't be worth it.
hansol let out a dramatic sigh. "c'mon jun. if you do it, i'll pay you in animal crackers--"
"deal."

the next day, after school, jun and chan followed their natural path to the library. chan was sipping on some strawberry milk, while jun was scrolling through and snickering at the pick-up lines his friends had found the day previous.
chan pushed open the door to the building. neither of the librarians had noticed their appearance. jisoo was sorting books from the cart to their proper shelf, and minghao was emerged in a book. the two friends went their seperate ways.
jun approached the desk, getting himself together before pulling together his 'fuckboy' attitude.
"hey, hao."
minghao looked up quickly, a little surprised. he set his book down and smiled. "hi, jun."
casually and a little slyly, jun leaned forward on the counter. "what are you reading?"
"oh-" minghao lifted the book and showed him the cover. "carve the mark. it's alright so far."
jun nodded, running a hand through his hair. "i haven't read it. tell me how it is." minghao hummed, standing up and stretching.
"hao?" minghao looked up at the mention of his name. jun was wearing the same smirk as several nights ago. it made minghao's cheeks warm.
"you must have been burning books, because you're looking hot."
minghao's hands flew to his mouth, face burning. jun was trying to control his laughter. the student cleared his throat before starting again.
"i know what i need to access the internet, but what do i need to access your heart?" jun wiggled his eyebrows in a stupidly suggestive manner, minghao scoffing in amusement, but a smile still found his face.
"you're so lame." minghao mumbled, a giggle almost escaping. jun walked with him as he organized books, picking up a few for himself.
"can you tell me how to spell love? i'm writing a letter to you."
"very smooth, jun." the librarian pushed the cart back to the counter, jun following after him like a puppy.
"could you tell me where i can find books on overcoming a deeply passionate affection i have for a librarian?" minghao turned and faced the smirking boy, stifling more laughs. these lines were terrible, but it still amused him.
"just check your books out and leave."
"mind if i check you out instead?"
