as soon as those words left junhui's mouth, minghao felt his heart break.
but he couldn't say anything. jun had already left.
minghao was too late.

chan walked hand in hand with jisoo. they were in a bit of a rush, jisoo having become too afraid of the current situation. the student had tried to coax him back into bed, but the librarian wasn't having it. as much as he loved being attacked with kisses, he was genuinely worried for his best friend's mental health.
they round the corner. jisoo needed to drag his sleepy lover with him, as chan was more interested in cuddling. but, being the good boyfriend that he is, chan let jisoo decide.
jisoo pushes open the double doors, surprised to be met with an almost empty library. there's a few people here and there, but what scares him the most is the broken librarian sitting at the desk. he's crying-- tears streaming down like a waterfall against his toned face, wetting his shirt as he rubs at his eyes.
letting go of chan's hand, jisoo speeds over, engulfing the sobbing boy into his arms. he shushes minghao with soft words, massaging his back and scalp. chan can only watch as his boyfriend attempts to push some words out of the chinese male.
"j-j-jun--" minghao croaks, tangling his fingers into jisoo's shirt. "i l-love him too. i want jun."
both chan and jisoo are beyond confused. jisoo whispers something to minghao, and the boy only cries more.
"minghao, hao, hao. what happened?"
"please tell us," chan adds, crouching down near the two. "we want to help make things better."
"jun, he--" minghao stops to wipe his tears and take in a greedy gasp of air. "i--he--jun kissed someone--" he mutters, almost feeling like bursting out into tears again. "in f-front of me. i was mad at him."
jisoo lets out a noise of understanding, silently urging minghao to continue.
"he u-umm, came to me today. and apologized. but i was still upset and i d-didn't forgive him."
"but before he left, he s-said he loved me. and now i feel t-terrible because i love him t-too--"
"find him." jisoo interferes, turning minghao by the shoulders. "go find jun. tell him you love him too."
minghao stares, contemplating. would jun still even want him, after he told him to get out so bluntly? he wouldn't.
"h-he doesn't want me anymore." the librarian whispers. chan quickly shakes his head, forcing minghao to make eye contact.
"jun loves you more than anything, minghao. believe me."
jisoo nods. "he's waiting for you. i know it."
"so go," chan says.
"go find him before he does something he'll regret."

with a rather aggressive push, minghao shoves his way through the double doors and outside the library. of course it's raining out-- pretty heavily, droplets splashing minghao's face as he sprints down the sidewalk. the only thing on his mind is wen junhui.
his pace slows though, when he realizes he has absolutely no idea where jun would be at this time. it was around six in the evening, raining, and the sun already beginning to set.
minghao's mind automatically resorts to the park where they had their first date. he nods a little to himself, continuing to run down the slippery road and towards the location.
it's a little hard for him, to be running this fast. his tears mingle with the rain drops as he gets closer to the local park, trees blinding him every now and then and--
jun?
it was him.
he was walking slowly beneath the cloud's dismal showers, hands stuffed in his pocket and eyes glaring at the sky. minghao feels his chest constrict with sympathy. how long had jun been walking? at the pace he was going at, it must have been at least a good hour or two.
remembering what he was actually here for, minghao began to speed walk in his direction. faster and faster, until he felt his legs slip and give out underneath him.
ah, damn the rain.
minghao slips foreword with a small squeak, closing his eyes and bracing for impact. he hits something-- no-- someone, knocking the two of them over. hands quickly flew to his waist to keep him protected, the stranger letting out a soft gasp upon realizing who it was.
the fear of opening his eyes was something nagging at minghao. he already knew it was junhui. the cologne worn daily by the student still remained fresh somehow, breath ghosting over minghao's face and making his nose a shiny red.
"hao."
the librarian's eyes flutter open. he doesn't really care that he is on top of jun, under the pouring rain, faces close and breaths heavy. jun looks back up at him, and they both simply take in the fact that the other is here. all they can do is stare.
"jun."
"jun," the older boy mutters, feeling on the brink of tears once again, due to the lack of response. "jun, listen. i--"
"minghao." he finally responds. "it's okay. you don't have to feel bad. it was my fault. i'm sorry. you can leave me if that's what makes you happy."
"no, no, no--" minghao retorts, propping himself up and cupping his lover's face. "you make me happy, jun. and i..."
minghao smiles weakly. "i love you too."
junhui blinks. minghao runs his fingers down his sopping wet face in a fond way, wiping stray tears that escape the student's gorgeous eyes.
"shh, it's okay." he whispers, pressing a soft kiss to the boy's forehead. "it's alright. i love you too."
and with those words, jun pulls minghao down by the collar, sending him a gaze full of nothing but adoration before pressing their lips together.
it's kinda ridiculous and extremely cliche-- two lovers kissing desperately underneath the harsh rain. but they're together, and it's okay. it's all going to be just fine.
"hao..." jun whispers as they part, still only inches away from minghao's face. "i should've asked you this way sooner, but how would you uhh, y'know."
"wen junhui." minghao giggles, quickly kissing the dumbfounded jock again. "are you asking me to be your boyfriend?"
when jun smiles nervously, minghao begins to laugh, sitting the two of them up and hiding is face in junhui's shoulder.
"er..." jun chuckles, holding the small librarian close to his chest. "maybe?"
the rain begins to stop, revealing a pitch black sky. save for the spare stars whisking around the midnight canvas, the only light comes from the nearby streetlights. they illuminate minghao's face just perfectly, and jun finds himself becoming more and more infatuated.
"i'd love to."
