TWO YEARS LATER
"haaaao. wake up."
"mm..." a hand swats at his face, tapping his nose and tracing his features. it dips down to squish his cheeks, making him yelp and finally open his eyes.
"good morning." jun whispers softly. the light dripping in from the window illuminates minghao's face in the most beautiful way. the former librarian's eyes are the brightest he's ever seen them.
he can't help himself from leaning down and pressing their lips together in a sweet kiss, one that has minghao gasping in surprise. though he smiles into it, pulling his lover so close that he falls, making the two burst into a fit of giggles.
it had been two years. junhui graduated, deciding to hold college back for a bit. the library had shut down due to lack of service, resulting in minghao becoming unemployed. chan and jisoo had bought a run-down building together, to which joshua recently turned into a homeless shelter. not everyone had their happy endings, though. soonyoung had parted with his so-called soulmate, seungkwan and hansol were barely making any money, wonwoo and mingyu moved somewhere, and no one had heard of jihoon since the graduation party.
for jun and minghao, things were okay. no, they didn't have enough money right now to move on and get married (at least minghao thought so), but this was enough. simply waking up to minghao's lovely grin was all junhui needed to be satisfied.
junhui's mom was still coping with feng's death-- jun, too. she had reserved herself in the comfort of her ranch home, visiting every so often or calling just to hear her only alive son's voice.
the feeling of minghao's lips trailing down his chest has him snapping back into reality. he almost coos at the sight of his boyfriend's early morning affection. so gentle and loving-- that is, until his mouth begins to sink down further.
jun yelps and quickly moves, bubbling with laughter as minghao playfully pinches his sides.
even in the time of two years, they stayed the same, and were still just as in love.
"c'mon, get up. let's go on a walk."
minghao doesn't budge. he hasn't changed a bit.
junhui ends up scooping his lover into his arms, standing him up on the bed. "arms up," he mumbles, quickly dressing his sleepy lover and opening the bedroom door.
the grin that minghao sends jun has him flustered.

"juuuuun." minghao whines, swaying his and jun's intertwined hands back and forth. "where are we going?"
"it's a surprise." is all that jun says, making minghao's lower lip jut out in an annoyed pout.
he doesn't take in the all too familiar trail as they continue walking. hand in hand, bodies pressed close together to rid of the slight bite of wind.
"we're here," jun claims after a moment, pressing a quick kiss to minghao's nose. before he can answer, his eyes are covered by jun's palms.
"jun! what's going on?"
"shhhh."
there's a creaking noise-- a heavy one, at that. minghao is quickly ushered into who knows where, the faint sound of a click resounding from behind him.
jun slowly removes his hands, and minghao gasps.
of course, they're in the library. the beautiful, broken down, and abandoned library. it looks just like how minghao remembered, all dusty shelves and crooked spines, brimmed at the edges with aesthetic pallets of brown and blue. though now there is a silly candlelit dinner table in the center of it all, already coated with an expensive meal that minghao has no idea how jun managed to afford. or any of this, really. yet the dirty messages written across sticky notes on the floor already give it away. things like 'don't forget to use protection!' and 'clean up after yourselves!' their friends were here.
he's quickly seated down by his beautiful boyfriend. jun offers a shy smile.
"you...jun..." minghao mumbles. "you didn't have to--"
"happy two year anniversary, hao." jun whispers, eyes full of adoration. minghao can almost see the reflection of the bookshelves through his tear glazed orbs.
and when he gets down on one knee, minghao knows his life is complete.
