What's The Point

We were out in LA for the first game of this shortened season. It was no secret that every game is important, with half the amount of the game than a regular season, every game matters. And the Kings are the defending Stanley cup champs so it's important to take these guys on with all that we had to start the season off right.

But before the game tonight and after the morning skate was the pre-game nap. There are some things that just never change. So I get back to the hotel room and expect to find Caroline there, but she was gone. I'm not sure she ever came back from the media huddle. Before I start to freak out I decide to call her and she picks up.

"Hello Crawford" she starts and I laugh.

"I feel like we're going to be married for 20 years and you're still calling me Crawford" I admit

"Most likely" she giggles.

"Where are you" I wonder. 

"Still at the rink. They have under privlidged kids out here this morning to learn how to skate and learn basic fundamentals of hockey and I'm helping out" she explains.

"Of course you are" I smile.

"And what is that supposed to mean" she gasps.

"That you are literally the nicest person I have ever met" I defend.

"Well thank you" she laughs. "Aren't you supposed to be doing your pregame nap" she questions.

"I was going to but my cuddling buddy left me behind" I tease.

"No, I think Brent is there" she replies.

"Ha Ha... very funny" I shake my head.

"I thought it was pretty good" she admits.

"How am I supposed to sleep without you here" I ask.

"How did you do it before we got together" she questions.

"Drinking" I admit.

"Well that's no good. Go to sleep then I will be there when you wake up" she claims.

"How are you going to do that" I ask.

"Don't worry about it" she insists.

"Since when were you all mysterious" I ask.

"Don't worry about that either" she jokes and I laugh.

"Alright. Well I guess I will see you when you wake up" I sigh.

"I'll see you then. I love you" she says.

"I love you too."

I change and lay down on the bed. No lights on or tv and my phone far away. I lay down and try to sleep but it doesn't come easy. A million things go through my head as I try to prepare for tonight. I wasn't nervous, I was really excited actually. I just wanted to get some sleep so I wouldn't over think things like I usually do.

Finally I fall asleep and have a alarm set in case I over sleep.

Eventually I wake up and go to move and realize someone was in bed with me. I open my eyes and see Caroline smiling at me.

"You're so pretty when you sleep" she claims and I laugh. I pull her closer and rest her head over my heart. Her fingers get tangled in my shirt as I hold her close.

"When did you get here" I mumble, for I was still pretty sleepy.

"A few seconds ago" she explains. "But I said I was going to be here before you woke up and I did" she claims, obviously feeling pretty proud of herself.
