Chapter 12

Jay, Cole, Nya, Seliel, Harumi, Lloyd and Morro ran to the Med Jack hut. When they arrived, Kai was sitting and Nya ran to his side and hugged him

"Kai! I was so worried about you!"Nya said. Kai hugged her tight

"Sis"he said and her eyes went wide

"W-What?"Nya asked pulling away from him

"You are my sister Nya. I saw it"Kai said. Nya couldn't believe what she was hearing. She smiled and hugged him again

"I knew we had some relationship"Nya said happily, still hugging him. After the two separated, Kai turned to the others. His eyes fixed on Jay. He looked angry, then turned to the others

"Turner was right"Kai said

"What do you mean?"Skylor asked confused. She was in the room when everyone came

"That everything is his fault"Kai said and looked down, then shook his head"They won't let us leave. We just won't make it and they doesn't care if we ever make it"Kai said, ready to tear up. Nya hugged him again

"What do you mean Kai? What did you see?"Nya asked softly. Before Kai could respond, there were shouts. Everyone looked at each other confused, then someone burst into the room. It was Zane and Pixal

"What's happening?"Lloyd asked

"The doors..."Zane said taking deep breaths"They aren't closing"

"What do you mean they aren't closing?"Cole asked confused

"Just come and see yourself!"Zane yelled and everyone ran outside, except Kai. Skylor turned before she leaves and looked at him

"Kai, c'mon"Skylor said, but Kai stayed on the bed and shook his head

"You don't understand Sky..."Kai said"It doesn't matter. We will die. We will all die"Kai said. Skylor sighed and walked to him, then sat on the bed next to him

"Kai, listen..."Skylor started"I know it's hard to go thought the changing. I know you are scared. I know....but please"Skylor said taking his hand in hers and lifting his chin with the other"Please come with me. I-I don't want to loose you, okay?"Skylor said putting her hand on his cheek. Kai put his on top of hers and nodded. Skylor smiled and kissed his cheek, then stand up, still holding his hand

"C'mon. Let's see what is going on"Skylor said. Kai nod and stand, putting his shirt on and following Skylor outside

Jay and the others arrived outside to see everyone running around with touches in their hands and panicked

"What do we do?"Cole asked also panicking

"Bring everyone in the Homestead. We have to hide there"Lloyd commanded and everyone nodded, then ran away to tell the others. In this time Kai and Skylor had joined the group and saw everything. Lloyd told the two what to do and they agreed, then ran to help the others

After some time, everyone were in the Homestead, led there by their keeper. Lloyd was with Harumi on the door, when he saw Seliel, Cole, Jay and Nya run inside. They were the last. After that, they closed the door. The windows were blocken by wooden planks, so the Serpentine won't see them. Everyone were huddled near the wall, except the leader, the second in command, the two Med Jack girls, the four runners and the two cooks were seated in a room on the second floor

"What do you guys think will happen?"suddenly Seliel spoke. She was seated on a chair and Cole was sitting in front of her, while she was playing with his black hair

"I really don't know"Lloyd says worried. Everyone fell in silence again. Suddenly, there were hisses. Many of them. Jay hugged Nya closer to himself to protect her. Suddenly, there was a Big Bang on the top of the building. Everyone held their breaths and didn't dared to move. Nya looked towards the window. There was a little crack and she looked outside. There was nothing, I until a big yellow eye appeared. She jumped a little and tried to hold back her scream

"J-Jay..."she managed to say, pointing at the creature staring right st her, thought the windows. She started breathing heavily

"What?"Jay whispered and Nya pointed at the window, and Jay saw it. The big eye staring at them. Creepy. Suddenly, there was a bigger bang and scream. The eye suddenly disappeared, but the screams didn't. They just started fading

"What happened?"Pixal asked, rising her head from Zane's shoulder

"I don't know, but I think they are gone"Jay said standing, pulling Nya with him. Everyone followed the two and went downstairs to see a big hole on the roof. Suddenly, from it came a big head of a serpentine. Everyone screamed. It reached out and took Nya by her legs

"HELP!"she screamed in terror

"NYA!"plenty of voices yelled. Jay and Cole took her hands and started pulling her back, while Kai took some stick and beat the klunk out of the Serpentine. It let Nya and she fell on the ground, along with one of its teeth next to her. She fell on top of Jay and sighed of relief

"Thanks"she managed to breath out

"No, problem"Jay said. He helped her to get up and then looked at the others

"Everybody! Go hide somewhere!"Lloyd yelled when he saw the Serpentine still above. Everyone ran out of the Homestead from where he can. From the door, though the window or the wall. Everyone just wanted to save themselves. Jay pulled Nya outside the Homestead and ran to the garden, where they hide with the others who had followed them along with some other Gladers who Jay didn't knew. They heard plenty of screams and then saw a tail taking Ash by the waist

"ASH!"Kai yelled and tried to reach for him, but it was too late. He just herd him screaming from agony or fear. Maybe both. After some time, everyone calmed down and they heard the Serpentine to left. It was already morning.
