It's been a year since Maeve died, since she was killed in front of your- what felt like a lifetime crush Dr. Spencer Reid.. And sadly he was still very beat up about it and you felt awful. You were best friend and you were always there for him when he broke down, when he couldn't stand the scene replaying in his head.

It was just another case, but this one seemed to get worse and more dangerous. Especially since the unsub took a certain liking to one of the BAU members- one of the members being you.

As he progressed with killing victims he seemed to make gestures to you, as if he was trying to get your attention to prove to you he was worth your attention. Hotch did consider taking you off the case for the remainder of the time, and you fought against that to ensure you saw this case go well.

"Y/l/n, I think you should consider Hotch's offer on taking the rest of this case off. This guy is getting creepy now." Morgan looks at you with a serious tone.

"Thanks for the concern, but he isn't gonna get me off this case that easy." You look at Morgan with sympathy knowing he is worried about you, he was like an older brother to you and you could understand he was worried.

"You don't scare to easily, huh? Killing people for your attention isn't scary at all?" JJ pops in looking at you.

"Not one bit, it takes a lot more to scare me then killing people. Killing them isn't right." You look at the photos of the victims "They all had a family, a life, a something." You look further at the pictures.

"And there's the tie, he isn't killing now to purely catch my attention!" You jump up running out of the room to find Hotch, probably asleep.

"Hotch! Open up! I'm an agent!" You were kind of excited now.

"Yes?" Hotch looks at you tiredly "The tie, they each have the same thing! You wouldn't see it at first but they all have a life!" The team gathers around "I have a life to." Rossi points out.

"But do you have ties to the mayor?" Everyone stops.

"What?" Hotch questions.

"Ties to the mayor, the victims either worked for the mayor or knew the mayor. The tie." You point out "Each with some kind of high acknowledgement." Rossi rephrases your jumble of words.
