Avi's POV 

Holy crap, is that really her? 

~A year ago~ 

Kirstie hasn't talked to me at all on this bus ride. I wonder if she even cares that I'm leaving. We barely talk, it's been that way for 4 years now. I've always sort of a thing for Kirstie though. I don't know why, I've just always found her adorable. 

To tell you the truth, one of the reasons why I'm leaving is because I know I'll never be with her, Jeremy just proposed to her. 

My chances with her are officially over. 

We arrive back to California and I'm brought to the final goodbye to my fellow band mates. I feel the tears welling up in my eyes as I'm hugging Scott, Mitch, and Kevin. Kevin's been there for me since day one. He's taken good care of me along with Esther. I'm gonna miss seeing him, we always had so much fun together. 

And finally I reach Kirstie, I could tell she doesn't want a hug from me but I go in for one anyway. She doesn't reject it, she hugs me back but it's not with much power at all. 

I can't hold it in any longer, I weep on her shoulder and back away, whispering my thank you to my now ex bandmates. 

We part ways. 

I wonder if I'll ever see them again. Kirstie, I wish you the best. I love you and I always will. 

I leave them.

~Present Day~ 

AVRIEL KAPLAN! SAY SOMETHING YOU IDIOT! 

"A-Avi?" I hear her voice say quietly. 

Dear God she said my name, it is her. Say something! She's just staring at you, she probably thinks you've gone insane in the past year! 

"Kirstie?" Great choice of words, just her name. Cause it's not like you two know each other already or anything.

"How have you been?" She asks. 

She's interested in knowing how I am? Or is this just small talk? Is my hair okay? Ughhh why didn't I trim my beard this morning!?!??! 

"I've been great, how about you?" I ask. 

As I return the question, I notice hesitance in her eyes. Something has happened.

I could tell she's pondering over whether she should tell me something or not in her head. I wonder what it is. Is she okay? 

"I'm okay thanks." She bluntly says. Her cheeks turn red and she looks to the side, not daring to make eye contact with me. 

"Just okay?" Was that a good idea? Her and I aren't exactly close anymore. Then again we never really were. 

Oh to hell with it, I never have to see her again after this if she doesn't like the way I'm talking to her.
But. I'll admit, she still looks as beautiful as the day I walked. She's dyed her hair completely black now. I smirk to myself.

'Black is the color of my true love's hair'
She's not my true love though, she has Jeremy. I never got to see her wedding pictures but I'm sure she looked gorgeous as always. 

"Yeah." I knew she wouldn't open up to me. She and I ne-

"Jeremy and I broke up." 

WHAT!?!? "Wait what? Why?" What happened!? 

"He and I just didn't think it was for the best. We had a major fight a few days before our wedding, it was a major fight." I saw her eyes tear up as she looked away. I suddenly felt really bad. How could Jeremy just let her go like that? If Kirstie had ever dated me, I would never let her slip from my fingertips.
I do a double take to look at her hands, and there is no engagement ring there anymore. She's being legit. 

"Kirstie I'm so sorry to here that, are you okay?" I actually can't believe this. 6 years they were together and they break up before the wedding due to a fight? It must've been a really really bad fight then. 

"I'm alright. I've been better but I'll get through it. Thanks Avi." My name rolls of her tongue and her eyes glisten at me. 

"Of course." What happens next really blows my mind.

"Hey Avi?" 

"Yes?" 

"Do you want to go get some breakfast or something and catch up?" 

My jaw drops.

Okay so I'm really trying to make this as accurate as possible. I do think Jeremy and Kirstie broke up because of a fight or just realized it wasn't meant to be. Considering Jeremy did support Kirstie in Kinky Boots I'm assuming they're still on good terms. 

But anyway, I'm writing this so that their story has a happy ending, to me anyway :)
