song of the chapter: missing by the xx

"Ow!" the brunette groaned as he fell straight for the ground, resulting in several scratches and bruises. "Mother fucker! Who the fuck!!?" he looks up at the mysterious blonde, an aching soul radiating vengeance in the dark plans of the night.

"You fucker!" he yelled. "You took Laura!! You stupid bitch!!"' he yells, raising his arm to throw another rock. Jack rose up from the ground, as Ross realized what he was up against. The man was way taller.

"You little bit-"

"Ross!?" the voice interrupts at last. He turns toward her. "Laura.... it took literally everything I had to find you! My god what the hell is wrong with-" his words were immediately interrupted by a firm punch to the face, landing him straight for the ground and into the dirt. He spat in disgust.

"What the hell!?"

"You think you can throw a mother fucking boulder-like bitch at me and get away with it!??" Jack shouts in anger, straddling the blonde as he struggled to release from his grasp. He threw furious punches relentlessly at his face, drawing blood with every single hit. Every touch was the embodiment of the most suffering he had ever experienced, physically.Laura runs behind him, grabbing his whole torso in attempt of tugging him off of Ross. "G-Get OFF Jack!!" she shouts in a struggle. She could hear Ross grunting and yelping at every hit to his face.

"Carrie!! FUCKING HELP ME OVER HERE WHAT ARE YOU DOING!??!" Laura screams at her mother who was staring at a map. "Fuck..! Sorry!" she almost trips as she jogs quickly towards them, helping Laura. Ross kicked in attempt of escape, but nothing. He only latched onto the dirt, digging his now stained brown fingertips deeper and deeper into the ground with every hit he took.

Laura felt the tears brimming at her eyes, the feeling of helplessness coming over her. He punched his stomach, back to his face... and the process repeated..

Ross' fingers sunk deeper.. deeper.. his whole body was the entire embodiment of pain, he felt as if he was drifting until...

He cried out.

His finger and hand  hit a shard of glass that had been deep into the ground, waiting for its next victim.

Seconds later, they peeled him off of Ross' body, stumbling right onto the ground with mass force, that was sure to leave a bruise on their skin.

They panted -- especially Laura, she looks right at Jack. "When will you know NOT to go out of control!? This is why you are completely isolated from the outside world!" she shouts at him, wiping the sweat that dripped from her forehead. Soon, she went into panic, her focus going onto Ross.

"Ross!?"

He was on the ground, unconscious. He face was oozing with his blood and with Jacks, right directly from Jacks knuckles. Ross' hand leaked with the deep red substance, causing more panic in Laura. She shuffles on her knees not caring if she was dirtying them right towards Ross. The beat was brutal.

"Ross? Ross can you hear me!?" she called. She couldn't call an ambulance, go to a hospital. Not like this. "Yeah my friend got beat up by a drug dealer who is actually my brother at like 3 AM while his mom was away in a junkyard. Don't mind this runaway prisoner as our witness."

Yeah no.

She pressed her fingertips right under her jaw that now seems beat and broken, checking for a pulse. It beated, barely. The pump was faint, but still there.

"My gosh you beat the shit out of him!! Its not like he fucking stole your jackpot or something what the fuck was all that shit!? Stop fucking losing your shit for itty bitty things, causing a huge mess! God -- this is why I fucking left in the first place!" she screams at him, her words echoing across the junkyard, for the miles and miles of waste to hear.

Jack was silent.

Suddenly, she heard coughing. Her eyes lit up as she turns right to him, he coughed amounts of blood into his hand, spitting it out onto the ground as well. Laura sighed in relief, laughing almost. Her breath was shaky.

"Ross! You scared me there!" he groaned as he layed back down on the ground.

"Everything hurts." he managed to say in a whisper. "Carrie, give me something! Anything!" Laura was officially into panic mode. She passed her a convenient first aid kit she had on her all the time to Laura who was still panting from the anxiety. She opened it hastily, finding alcohol and wipes.

.

"Okay Ross. This is gonna hurt really badly," she took a short pause to take a breath. "So just don't focus on the pain, and look at me okay?" she tried to sooth him, before taking the wipe onto his fresh open wound that sat right on his jaw. He flinched, squeezing his eyes tightly.

"Hey, I said just look at me." she comforts. He stared right into eyes as she says this, her voice turning into a echo, and into a soft melody, seconds later. His vision was blurring and he heard loud beeping in his ears, but he still heard the lovely sound of her voice echoing in his head like a soft melody. He gave a little laugh.

"Ross." her voice was distorted. He closed his eyes, and smiled gently. "Ross." he repeated after her, giggling after that. "Ross." he gave another laugh, opening his eyes to only a blur of pink hair, and desaturated colors all around him. He reached his hand out, that was cut and bleeding a lot, dripping down to his shirt. He breathed out.

"Ross can you hear me?" the words weren't going into his brain. The words only echoed in her voice, in result of a sweet therapeutic melody. He blinked and suddenly saw himself sitting down at a porch. It was bright outside today. the birds are singing the same melody. He sighed in satisfactory, pleased with the nature around him. He suddenly saw a fish bowl next to him. The fish swam, delighted to be alive it looked like. Excited to be a fish in a bowl for the rest of its life. It was him, his house, alone with his fish.

nature.

"Ross, are you okay?" he heard a voice call from inside of the house. Was that, mom?
"Yeah, I'm okay, thanks." he smiled, looking down at the sketchbook that sat in his lap.
He hummed to the tune the birds sung, sketching like no tomorrow. He let everything flow. He felt powerful. It felt real.

"Ross!" another voice calls in the distance. They were so far, and he wouldn't want to tire himself for that. He looked at his drawing, starring in curiosity what his hand had gifted him with.

A drawing, of a junkyard.

His heart thumped faster. He could hear a voice. He lifts his drawing up with his hand, starring at it.

"Ross, you're hallucinating." it was getting louder. The birds we're singing louder, but the voice got louder too. He knows this voice. He looked around the beautiful sight in panic. What? The fish was suddenly gone.

Where did it go?

"Ross!!!!!" the voice was now yelling, leaving a dramatic song for the birds to chirp. He looked at the drawing, then back at his hand, then his drawing. His vision was blurring again.

Again?

"Ross?" the sweet voice called from inside the home, making him want to drift. But he couldn't speak.

He blinks. He could see his father walking away in the distance, leaving him forever. The fish that was once lively swimming happily in its bowl, appeared dead on the ground, flapping for the need of oxygen, yet it didn't really look like it wanted to go back in the bowl.

"Ross!" he starred back at his drawing in panic. "Ross! You're hallucinating!" the voice says once more. He blinked once more, and suddenly, his mind meandered off into nothingness.
