{Prompt: Look through a history textbook. Decide on an event that might inspire you to write about. Consider the images, ideas, universal themes connected within the events, as well as the people who may have or may not have been involved/affected.}

There is sacrifice and bloodshed,
shadows that consume the litter on the streets

Blade bloody with the blood of a thousand peoples,
Soaked with the blood of royals

Children, adults, the monarchy--who isn't sacrificed in such an occasion as this?

Escape the familiar prison household

only to be found guilty of treason.

Both women
And men

Gathered around the base of the chopping block

An axe ready to fire,
cheering among the crowd full of hungry animals.

Ready to feast on the bloodshed
For a few more years

Until our fair king's spirit
is dead

In the name of our Revolution.
