{Final Poetry Piece for my ELA class. Please enjoy.}
Broken shards of glass shatter amongst the crowded floor.
Heads turn towards the incident, only to see broken glass,
broken glass to match a broken soul. The floor melts into the shape of lungs, the pieces of glass slowly sinking into the flesh of the organs.
As blood pokes out
from the holes made by the glass,
the river of blood flows upward
into the esophagus,
blocking the airway.Breathing is a function I cannot comprehend when doubts crowd my mind.
Doubts come in clouds of dark acid rain,
breaking down the fibers of my heart's lining, until it cracks, creating a split that cannot be patched up by simply covering it with
silence--Silence is a word I have come to befriend.
It reached its cold,
dark hands out to me,promising to fix that crack in the wall,
And with nothing else to turn to, I took those hands and tainted my own skin,
desperate for companionship. With doubts, the real world cannot save me.
Silence is only my "friend" when Doubt come to play.
Doubt want me to join their game of depression and anxiety, and though I do not want to join, my friend Silence pulls me along to come join them.
I'm sucked into an endless loop of worry and denial--
Denial, such a strong word with the power to kill. And when denial comes to play,
there's Silence again.Deny that you need help,
Deny that you are hurting,
Deny that anything is wrong.
My throat closes up, silence and doubt twisting their hands
around my neck.
Tricking me with promises of a hug,
but instead betraying me and leaving me without a voice. However, I've learned to hide it.
I've learned how to hide the pain.
Smile,
Laugh,
be Silent. If you do not speak, no one will ever know your doubts,
no one will see your depression.
If you do not cry, no one will ever notice the broken wall and try to fix it,
for they cannot fix what is "meant" to be broken.
You may not be proud of it, but you have to admit it:
You're a pretty good actor.By the time this fantasyland disappears,
you will be nothing.
I will be nothing.
