Song of the Chapter: Where'd You Go by Fort Minor

Ryder's POV:
"Hey guys, were heading to the beach!" Wesley yelled from behind the door.
"Coming!" Keaton yelled as we hurried to get ready.
I slid on my navy blue bikini, sliding on black denim shorts and a white tank over it.
I pulled my hair into a messy bun and put on black flip-flops, grabbing my bag and heading out the door.
We all went down in the elevator and walked out to the beach.
"It's beautiful out here!" I exclaimed.
"Ryder!" I heard someone yell from behind me.
"Ryan?" I asked, running up and hugging him.
"I missed you so much." He said, squeezing the life out of me.
"I missed you too." I said.
God, it feels like it's been years.
"Um, Ryan, this is Tyler. My, uh, boyfriend." I said as I introduced them.
They shook hands but Ryan never talked.
"You do know who I am, right?" Ryan asked Tyler.
"Yeah, you're Ryan Sheckler but, I never knew that you and Ryder were siblings." Tyler said, obviously very nervous.
"Yeah, our mom died a few years back. She is my sister. You hurt her, I will kill you. I promise. You got that?" Ryan threatened.
"Yeah, I got it." Tyler said.
"Okay, now that, that was settled let's go!" Drew screamed at the top of his lungs and ran out to the ocean.
We all started running out, except for Ryan who looked frozen on spot.
"What's wrong?" I asked, jogging back to him.
"I just remembered that mom's buried right down the road." He mumbled slightly.
Mom loved San Diego. More than anything. We came every summer just for her. In her letter she wrote that she wanted to buried here. So we did.
"Oh yeah." I said, my face immediately falling from a smile.
"I miss her. A lot." Ryan said, pulling me into a hug.
"I do too." I said as I lost it and cried harder than I had in months.
"It's going to be okay." He whispered in my ear.
"C-Can we go see her?" I asked.
"Now?"
I nodded my head.
"Of course." He said.
"Hey, what's going on?" Drew asked, walking up to us.
"Our mom is buried down the street. Would it be cool if I took Ryder down there?" Ryan asked Drew.
"Yeah, would you mind if I went too?" Drew asked.
"Sure." Ryan said as we got into Ryan's car.
"I'll text the guys and let them know what's up." Drew said.
It was a five minute drive to the cemetery. We walked in and looked for my mother's grave.
'YVONNE CASSANDRA JONES
May 29th 1970 - June 3rd 2007
Loving mother to two beautiful children.'
(A/N: RYDER'S PARENTS WERE NEVER MARRIED)
It's her birthday.
I grabbed my phone to call Alec.
(A/N: In case you're a little prick and skipped the first book or you forgot, that's her cousin)
"Ryder?" Alec asked once he picked up.
"Hey, I'm at the cemetery. Where my mom is." I said.
"Yeah, me and Dylan are on our way already. Be there in a sec." Alec said before we both hung up.
"Dylan and Alec will be here in a sec." I said as I sat down in front of Mom's headstone.
"Hey mom." I started. "I know it's been a while. But, Happy Birthday. I thought I'd let you know a few things. I've been adopted by the most amazing person in the entire world. I saw Ryan, which I hope you know already. Dad is finally locked away. I have a boyfriend, who makes me very happy." By then I had tears streaming down my face.
I heard Dylan and Alec walk up and sit down next to Drew, Ryan and I.
"I'm better now. OCD isn't as bad. I have a truly amazing life. I wish you were here now. I've started singing. I know that you never got to hear me but, everybody thinks I'm pretty good. Please just come back home." I said, now a crying mess.
"Mom, it's me. Ryan. Since Ryder is crying pretty hard, I guess I'll talk now. Well, I live with my dad. I have a girlfriend, who also makes me very happy. I'm constantly thinking of you. Ryder and I are both safe, I promise. We love and miss you." Ryan finished.
"Would you mind if I uh?" Drew asked.
"Go ahead." Ryan said, wiping his own tears.
"Yvonne, hi. I'm Drew Chadwick. I adopted Ryder about a year ago. I just want to let you know that I'm keeping Ryder safe and protected. I will never let anything or anyone hurt her. Ever. I love her more than anything. You have made a beautiful young woman and everybody misses you. Even I do, even though I never met you. Rest easy. Happy Birthday." Drew said.
Alec and Dylan said a few things.
"I missed you guys." I said hugging Alec and Dylan.
Just to think, I used to hate hugs. Now, I'm constantly giving and accepting.
"I just miss her so much." I said as I hugged Alec.
"I miss her too baby. I miss her too." Alec said, rubbing circles into my back. "It'll be okay."
