The Real Deal
Chapter 19:
THE AWARDS NIGHTMARE
I am standing as honorable as possible here outside the backstage of our School Auditorium. The students were staring directly at me while I fix the ribbon on my black suit. The scent around me smells like a very long night. A very long night of surprises and other happenings that might change everything. All the staffs are very busy for the program. They are fixing there, fixing here. I suddenly realized,
This is all a big lie. A lie that started 2 months ago. A lie that we know that is not right the very first time. I rubbed my eyes. Is this all a dream? No, it isn't. This is all true. I slapped myself 3 times, this is all really true. I saw all the teachers who will watch the awards night.
I began walking. Turning my heads left to right, seeing all dressing rooms. Until I saw Ashton, getting ready too. he is in front of a mirror and he is fixing his suit. I can still see the bruise on his face. The bruise that's all because of me. I didn't mean to punch him. I know it.
" Hey! I've been looking for you! The Gridleys is about to start! Come on!" Harvey surprised me.
" Oh! Sorry! Is Kacdy already inside?" I asked him.
" Yes! Yes! Come on!" he ordered me.
We quickly walked inside the auditorium. Just after some seconds, I can finally smell the air-conditioned scent of the auditorium. Different but pleasurable smell are also entering my nostrills as I walked to my red-velvet chair, maybe because of the different fancy visitors and guests tonight.
Finally, I saw my chair. There is a printed, bold name of mine taped into it.
MR. JAMES DYLLAN.
I sat on my soft and theatre-like chair. I began to notice, Harvey vanished. Where did that mongrel gol? And also, where's Kacey. Well, maybe she is in the dressing room.
I went to the backstage again to search for Kacey's dressing room. And I knocked on one of the dressing rooms,
" KACEY?!" I asked.
" Im not Kacey, And I will never be." Ella opened the door surprising me.
" Oh. Sorry. My fault." I apologized.
" I don't care. Go out!" Ella yelled to me.
.
.
" THAT'S THE REASON WHY NO ONE LIKES YOU, BECAUSE YOU NEVER CARED FOR THEIR FEELINGS. YOU ARE SELFISH." I argued.
She closed the door on my face. How cruel. I just went to my chair. And finally, I saw Kacey there! At last.
" You look beautiful!" I admired her.
.
.
" Thank you, honey." Kacey responded to me while smiling with her red-lipstick.
.
.
After some minutes of waiting, the nominees were finally complete. Ashton and Ella were behind us and Nate and Shelly were on our right side. Harvey is on the left.
The Gridleys already started,
" A very good evening to all of you! I am so honored to be part of this one-of-a-kind awards night where we will showcase everyone's unique gifts. The gifts of intelligence, sense of humour and the gift of pure romance." Mr. Fentor announced.
