Chapter 14:

The Crashing Burns

Three days already passed from that duel,

Kacey and I are continuing to be sweet to each other. Battling Nate and Shelly is hard but battling Ashton and Ella is harder. I don't know but.. their loveteam is strong. Strong enough to battle us. But, inspite of that, many students are still convinced to vote us because of our sweetness to each other.

Later,

Kacey and I were walking when we passed by Ashton and Ella. They are both hugging each other,

"Are you going to the library? We are too! Let's go there together!" Ella boasted to us.

"Sure!" Kacey tempted, rolled her eyes.

While walking, I can see Ashton and Ella's obvious and as I can say, forced sweetness.

So, I placed my arm around Kacey's waist. She smiled at me.

Ella saw us being sweeter, so she hugged Ashton really hard. Ashton hugged her back, who looks uncomfortable. 

I hugged Kacey real hard too. Kacey widened her eyes in surprise but eventually hugged me back.

"Stop this, Ella." Ashton leaned beside her and whispered to her.

"No. This is exciting." Ella reassured as she hugs harder Ashton.

Suddenly, KACEY KISSED ME.

She kissed me on the cheeks. For the first time. I can't talk. My heart starts beating really fast. My palms got sweaty. I can't breathe.

Ashton and Ella stopped on their tracks and were surprised.

"This is VERY EXCITING, right Ella?" Kacey turned her head to Ella, who still looks surprised. Maybe she thought that Kacey wouldnt do anything like that, but she did.

"Why did you kissed him?" Ashton turned his gaze to Kacey.

"Oh sorry. We need to go back, I forgot I don't want to go to the library together with traitors. Sorry." Kacey taunted them as she turned her back to all of us.

"Okay, honey. Let's go back." I followed her.

We left Ashton and Ella in big shock.

We went straightly to the abandoned room, where Kacey used to cry because of Ashton.

She sat on the chair. Thinking deep thoughts about what happened. She can't look me straight in the eye.

"WHY DID YOU KISSED ME?" 

"That's all part of the deal, James." she shrugged it off, throwing the question away.

"Oh. I thought you mean it." I said as I looked from Kacey to the floor, breathing in and out.

"JAMES? WHAT?!" 

I kneeled in front of her..

"Kacey, I don't know but I think I've fallen in love with you! Everytime we're being sweet to each other, I feel that something was wrong. Something was not right. And that is this weird feeling I get whenever Im with you. Is this love? Do you feel the same way too?"

Kacey didn't respond. She lowered her gaze, still surprised.

"Kacey, will we please make this real? Our relationship? Let's not stop this! From the very first day we sealed this deal, I said that I will not develop any feelings for you," I held her hand, "AND I CAN'T DO THAT ANYMORE. BECAUSE I FINALLY LOVE YOU."

"This is really not right, James." she took her hand away from me, "this is all part of our revenge."

"PLEASE! PLEASE GIVE ME A CHANCE! GIVE ME A LITTLE BIT OF HOPE!" I begged her, tears falling down.

Kacey just stared at me blankly.

"What are you doing? Why are you doing this?" she asked, making me feel numb.

"Believe me Kacey. Believe me this time. This time I can't hide it anymore!" I confessed, covering my face, "Kacey, I don't know what is this strange feeling I have for you. I always question myself who is the right person for you. I have many experiences in life, I KNOW IM NOWHERE NEAR PERFECT. But I know I have something I can't deny, something I can't hide for myself, and that is I LOVE YOU."

Kacey finally showed me smile and hugged me coldly. I can feel the drops of tears falling on my shoulders as we hugged.

But it never last long, because she stood up and ran away. I don't know why.
