The Real Deal

Chapter 25:

THE MAXIMUM RISK

-JAMES' POV-

Luckily, the ambulance was very quick and we quickly went inside it.

We are comforting and praying for Ashton inside the ambulance. We laid Ashton on the comforter inside. The nurse put some gauze on his wound but the bleeding was just continous.

" What will happen to him?" Kacey asked the nurse.

" His wound is very deep! This might get into bigger problem if we don't fix this as soon as possible." the nurse mentioned while looking to us.

After some minutes, we are now on the hospital. The nurses quickly laid Ashton on the stretcher.

Shelly, Nate, Harvey, Kacey and I were really nervous about Ashton. We were sitting on the chairs outside the Emergency Room. Shelly is comforting Kacey because she is crying.

Kacey called Ashton's mom to tell her what happened. It was ringing but no one was answering it.

" How about his dad?" I asked her.

" Ashton doesn't have a dad. He left him when he was still a baby." Kacey addressed.

" Oh." I related.

" Kacey, maybe you can just text her. Then she will later see it." Shelly suggested.

" Okay." Kacey replied while her hands are shaking because of shock.

" Are you okay?" I asked her.

" Im fine. Nothing to worry about." she denied it,

Suddenly, the phone on Kacey's hand suddenly rang.

" Ring! ring!"

" Oh! Hello?" Kacey answered.

" Kacey? What happenened to Ashton?! Where are you?" Mrs. Springer exclaimed.

" Uhmm..Ashton was shot. Come here on the Shoreline Medical Hospital." Kacey answered.

After 10 minutes, Ashton's mom came. She is really panicking.

" WHAT HAPPENED TO MY SON?" she shouted on the corridors.

" WHERE'S THE DOCTORS? WHERE IS MY SON?" she continued screaming while crying.

" Calm down, Mrs. Springer. Everything will be okay." I told her.

" MY SON'S LIFE IS AT RISK AND YOU'RE TELLING ME TO CALM DOWN?! WHY ARE YOU LIKE THAT!" she yelled back to me.

I can't answer her. I know what she feels. She feels hopeless this moment. The burden of a mother is always painful.

" Mrs. Springer, Ashton's life might get ever shorter if we yell and scream here." Kacey told her.

That made Mrs. Springer shut her mouth off.

" Can we see the doctor now?" she asked us while trying to control her tears.

" Of course. Let's go now." I answered her.

We went to the doctor who treated Ashton.

" Doc, how's Ashton? Is he already safe?" Kacey asked her.

" I'll get straight to the point, Ashton's situation is unstable. His vital signs are not functioning well. And he is very critical right now. Maybe the two gunshots made some damage in his lungs since there was a severe bleeding there. Right now, Ashton is unconscious. We're doing our best we can but we will not assure you anything until now." the doctor explained.

The words the doctor said made a crack in my heart. I don't know why but I feel the pain. Shelly, Nate and Harvey were also surprised. They can't say a thing. Last time, we were bashing Ashton now, we are praying for his safety.

Ashton's mom stared the doctor. Her tears fell. Kacey sat on the nearest chair. They are having a breakdown. I can't believe everything will come to this point. That everything will come to a maximum danger.
