I walk in, and I see rows of desks, pushed aside. There is a fat and very wide glass tube-like thing in front of the door, which made it hard for me to walk in. Students are bunched up on the other side, facing the teacher standing inside the tube. There is a black board, and the teacher had written in cursive handwriting "instincts."
The teacher has fair skin, with light, curly, brown hair. She wears loose pants, with a white shirt that says, "Ms. Fox." I awkwardly shuffle to join the other students, and she smiles at me.
"Welcome home room! I am Ms. Fox, your Animal Science teacher."
We all mumble "hello" and wait for her to continue.
"Today, I will demonstrate the secret of Alkrok. Keep in mind, don't run away or get frightened when I do the experiment."
She opens the door of the tube, and walks to the door. She puts a lock around it, and puts the key in the pocket of her pants.
Just in case, she whispers, and steps into the tube again. I notice a bracelet decorated with autumn leaves, and she reaches for it. She closes her eyes, and I see her relax, as if she is seeing a calming memory.
She shivers, and her skin starts turning orange. A long, bushy tail pops out, and her hands become smaller and brown. Her nose becomes longer, and the tip turns round and black. Her brown eyes turn yellow, and narrow. Her body grows smaller, and her legs get smaller, too, and finally, she drops onto all fours.
We all gasp, as our Ms. Fox literally turned into a fox! Some students start screaming, frantically pointing at her and clawing at the door. I see the fox grin, as if she remembers warning us not to run away or get scared.
I put down my backpack and walk up to the tube. For some reason, I feel no danger. To me, this fox feels like a friend.
The fox comes up to the wall of the tube and puts her paw on it.
"Kate, you're not scared?" the little fox asks, and I get shocked.
"Wait, you can talk?" I ask and she nods.
"I'm still Ms. Fox, I just transformed into a fox using my instinct. I'll explain all of it if you could do me a favor and round up the students."
I nod and go up to the terrified freshmen.
"Guys, it's just a small fox in a glass tube, why are you all scared?"
"Ms. Fox disappeared and a fox took her place! Isn't it obvious?" a girl with thick black hair and dark skin shouts at me.
"Ms. Fox says she'll explain it, if you guys calm down," I say, and at this they look more curious than frightened.
They slowly walk up to the tube, and Ms. Fox pushes her head against the door to open it. She jumps out, and swiftly leaps into my arms.
"Class, I'm sorry if you got scared. All of the other freshman classes and their teachers are doing this right now, so all of the other freshman are experiencing what is happening to you," She takes a pause and yawns.
"All of the students and teachers at Alkrok can do this, and is mean that they can transform into animals using their instincts."
A student raises their hand hand and asks, "Does that mean everyone can turn into foxes?"
"No, everyone has a different animal spirit, and the small object you love is your instinct, the thing you use to transform."
I look down at my shoes, and feel like running around the world.
"Only a small amount of the population can do this, and most of them live in Crocoond Valley."
"How come we have never turned into animals before?" the same student asks, and Ms. Fox laughs.
