Jax was smitten after that, and we went over to wake up Vera and Jasper.
Vera woke up and stretched, yawning, "What time is... is it?"
Jasper woke up, and licked his leg.
"I think it's better," he murmured as he flexed it back in forth, testing for pain. "Wow, it healed quickly!"
"That's your instincts magic super-healing your wound," Vera informed, and I remembered how Chelsie had also done it.
"We should get going."
We all nod and me and Jax transform into our instincts animals, and run towards Jalstie. Not just run, but we literally sprint.
We run, and run, and run, and run, and...
You guessed it: we run.
The sun was dipping below the horizon, dusk approaching. The forest got darker, and the trees started spreading out, becoming less and less crowded. Then, my paws hit stone: a stone path. A path leading to none other than Jalstie. Vera gestured us to transform into humans from the treetops where she perched. She did, too, and hopped down.
"We should walk from here, so we don't scare any pedestrians... or Jalstians or whatever."
We walked down the road, and approached a gate. There was a sleepy guard in a tiny office box, and he looked almost dead.
We quietly tip-toed to the gate, and looked left and right. There was a strange yellow sphere surrounding the city, but it was barely visible, and the others didn't notice it. You'd have to stare really hard to see it, and that's exactly what I was doing.
"What are you doing?" Vera asked.
"Do you see the yellow sphere surrounding Jalstie?" I asked, pointing.
"Oh, that's the protector protecting the city from normal people without any instincts magic. Only people that have instincts magic can see it, though."
"But there are normal, everyday humans living in Jalstie, how did they get in here?" I ask.
"Most people now a days have slight traces of magic, even though they may not know it. Your parents must have had magic in order to have given birth to a child that did have magic. These type of people will not know they have instincts magic until they are informed about it and try to use it," she explained.
I nodded. So my parents could transform into animals if they want, and we could have a family of cheetahs living in a small house with a small domestic cat. Not weird at all.
I entertained myself on that thought as we cautiously entered the city. Jasper beckoned us to hide behind houses. We did, and watched as Jalstians walked by.
"We should inch towards the Jalstie Manor without being noticed," Jasper whispered.
We all nodded, and used every available alleyway and shadow to get close to the center.
Jalstie was beautiful; well-built houses surrounded by gardens of flowers and paths made of sparkling stones. Roses and small streams decorated the city, and the center was even more extravagant. There was a large square with a fountain gushing out crystal-clear water. Four lamps with hanging pots of flowers were in the corners of the square, with smaller lamp posts lining the streets and stores near the center. In front of the square was the entrance to the Jalstie ruler's house, the Jalstie Manor where Chelsie and the Jalstones lived.
There were two very alert guards by the entrance, and they were scanning the square. We were hiding behind a bush next to a bench, and Vera motioned with her hands for us to come closer.
