Forgotten Memories [Detective Conan Fanfic]

Back to School

A/N: I UPLOADED ON TIME!! IT'S STILL SUNDAY (IN AUSTRALIA) SO IM NOT LATE!!I tried to squish in as much wattpad writing time this week, but I just have too much assessment and tests, so I can't promise that I'd upload every week.

I know I'm doing a lot of time skips but I honestly can't be bothered to write the whole thing.

Time Skip

Shinichi glanced around the building, unconsciously smiling at the sight of it. He gently breathed in the scent of school, which carried a faint smell of miso soup from the canteen. Closing his eyes, he reminisced about the old memories shared with it, like when he played soccer with his mates, teased Ran about her recent weight gain, (which was nothing, he just had to tease her about sth), and acing every test the school has challenged him to.

Shinichi hasn't properly stayed in school for the past few years, even though his latest visit was only a couple of months ago, he had only been there for not up to a week before leaving again.
Unfortunately, during Shinichi's time as Edogawa Conan, many of his mates have transferred, and he felt Ran and him just weren't the same again, they weren't that...close. Of course, mostly it's because of him always running of the places for detective work, but who can blame him right? He was the death magnet.

The detective heaved a sigh knowing that the teachers are going to give him a heavy amount of overdue work.

But those memories won't be the same again, no more playing soccer with mates, no more giddy feeling with Ran, and no more free time at home because he had to finish off all the school work.

His eyes wandered over to his three friends, Shiho, Kazuha, and Heiji, all three of them gazing over the school. A smile came to Shinichi's lips as he thought, but I'm going to make new memories with them. He looked towards the ground and that sneaky Kaito Kid.

They walked in, heads turning around instantly. Girls were enthralled by the dreaminess of Shinichi and the boldness of Heiji. Boys were drooling over the elegance of Shiho and the cuteness of Kazuha.

'Alright Kudo, us three are going to walk around this place,' Heiji announced, going over beside Shinichi, whispering, 'try to sort out you and Ran's little conflict,'

'See you later,' Kazuha waved as Shiho simply smirked at him and walked away.

He started walking towards the lockers, trying desperately hard to remember his locker password.

'Was it, 6, 8, 14, or 4, 7, 19?' He wondered out loud.

'Shinichi?'

Turning around, his eyes met his childhood crush, who he hasn't seen for ages. Immediately, he was overwhelmed with the warmth of the girl's body against him, hugging the detective tightly.

'Ran?' He breathed out, as she let go of him.

'Shinichi, are you okay?' She asked, staring at him with those pair of large bewildered eyes.

'Yeah I'm fine, the doctor has already treated me,' He assured her.

'I've missed you,' she admitted, 'I'm happy you're back,'

'So am I, I've missed you too,'

He hesitated before speaking, 'Ran, I have to talk to you,'

She sighed, 'I had it coming,'

He furrowed his eyebrows in confusion as he looked at the girl in front of him.

'What do you mean you had it coming,'

'Well, I just feel like we weren't what we are before,' She confessed gazing towards the ground, fidgeting nervously with her fingers.

'You were always on your cases, and as time went on, everything changed, and your feelings towards me changed as well,'

Silently, Ran was wishing that her deductions were false, wishing that Shinichi still loved her. But when she actually thought about it, she doesn't know how she came up with the result that Shinichi's feelings have faded, she just....... had the feeling.

'Ran, I'm so sorry, it's just that I don't feel that way anymore,' Shinichi looked at Ran directly in the eyes, 'before, I kept telling myself that I still loved you, but I guess feelings do change,'

She smiled tearily and said, 'you love Miyano Shiho, your partner, don't you,'

His eyes widened before replying 'Somewhere, along my journey, a sparked formed between us, and that's when I realised, that feelings do change,' He admitted, 'I'm really sorry Ran,'

'It's fine, I just need some time to move on,' she paused before speaking, 'Shinichi, one more thing. Were you Conan?'

Shinichi's eyes widened in shock, as his lips parted.

'W-wh-what?' He stuttered.

'Were you Conan,' Ran repeated, slightly amused at Shinichi's face

'How did you know?' Shinichi asked.

'Well, I tried denying this but the clues were all in front of my face,' she started, 'when Conan transferred to America with Haibara, you came back, and that happened in a lot of cases. Also, you guys looked very alike, strangely too alike, and that's when I suspected Conan was you, and even though you were out on cases, I always thought you were so close to me for some reason.'

Shinichi was quite impressed with Ran's observation skills, even though it was kinda self-evident. But pointing out the obvious was the first step to becoming a detective.

'I'm quite impressed with your observations skills Ran,' Shinichi remarked, 'but yeah, you're right I was Conan,'

'But why didn't you tell me you were,' Ran immediately questioned.

'I didn't tell you because I hoped to protect you,'

'From what?'

'Long story,'

A/N: And then Shinichi tells Ran about the B.O., Haibara, how dangerous it was, etc.

Anyways, the reason I wanted Ran to deduce this is because I think she isn't a dumb girl, I think she is quite smart. But her smartness is overpowered by the other characters in the series like Shinichi, Heiji, Shiho, and Kaito, those people are geniuses, making Ran and characters like her seem dumb, or less important. So I decided to not let Shinichi tell Ran, but let Ran tell Shinichi her deductions.
