Shiho saw the shock register on his face before he could hide it. Her lips curled up in to a smile, she found it amusing, but cute. While Shiho was enjoying his reactions, Shinichi's eyes widened, fighting the urge to start jumping up and down on the spot.
'You said Edogawa Conan,' the words slowly flowed out of his mouth.
'Yep, I sure did, genius,' she shrugged, closing her magazine and placing it on the table.
'Does that mean you have regained your memory?'
Shiho frowned and shook her head, as the tension got more serious, 'no, I only seem to remember the detective boys, and you,' she gestured towards Shinichi, 'and who they are, except I don't remember my experiences with them.'
'Well, at least that's a start,'
'Don't tell other people, I don't want to raise their hopes up,' Shiho warned
Shinichi's phone suddenly rang, Ran, a wave of uneasiness flushed over him, as he walked over to his room. Shiho rose one eyebrow and continued on with her reading.
He hesitated before he spoke, 'Ran?'
'Shinichi, are you back?' She asked.
'Yeah, there was another crime there, so I got delayed,' Shinichi explained,
'Oh, okay, do you want to meet up?' Her voice was full of hope.
'Um... Ran the thing is that,' he paused, wondering if he should say it, 'my partner, the partner who I was working with overseas has apparently lost her memory, I'm trying to help her regain it'
'Oh my god, is she okay? Do you want me to help?' She offered
'Nah, I'm going to do this by myself,' he declined.
'Ok then, bye,'
'Bye'
He sighed in relief as he punched the hang up button. For some reason, he didn't feel like hanging out with Ran at this time. To be honest, he didn't feel like it since Haibara disappeared.
'Who was that?' Shiho casually questioned,
'Oh, Ran,'
Shiho felt her chest tighten at the mention of the name. The name seems familiar, but it made her feel... weird.
Shinichi clapped his hand, realisation suddenly hitting him, 'Oh yeah! We need to go to the store to buy some necessities,'
'And why should I go?' She teased, smirking.
'Well, if you want a toothbrush and whatnot, you better come,' he rebutted
'Believe or not, I actually bought my own needs, so I don't see any reason to come with you,'
Shinichi's lips pursed and, he waved his hand in an annoyed manner, 'Whatever just come with me, I need to buy dinner supplies,'
Time skip
The sun sank lower in the sky, light of day draining away, giving way to the velvety dark of night, crickets chirping, dusky, colors subdued in the fading light. Mosquitoes starts their adventure hunting for humans to feed on. There was a whisp of light left before twilight beckons the stars.
Shinichi and Shiho stayed silent throughout the whole journey to the convenience store, as the soft summer breeze enchanted the place.
They continued walking as soon as the traffic lights turned green. Shiho proceeded towards the other side of the street. Suddenly, a surge of shock overwhelmed her as she heard the continuous beeping of car horns directed towards her. Shiho's heartbeat started to quicken, cold sweat raced down her forehead as her eyes widened in fear. Her body was numb. She couldn't move. Shiho closed her eyes, wishing when she opens it, a stairway to heaven will await her.
She felt a push. Only, not as strong as a huge Toyota should be. Once she opened her eyes, a deadly scene welcomes her. Time seemed to stop.
At least, she hoped it did.
Fear and guilt began to rush over her as she stared unbelievingly at the body in front of her. Lying in a crimson sea, was Shinichi, red liquid oozing out of parts of his body. Her hands started to shake and her eyes began to water. Not caring about her soaked clothes, she crawled over to him and hugged him, sobbing quietly on his arm. Each drop of blood was like a knife, constantly stabbing her heart.
'Why,' she sobbed helplessly, 'why did you push me away? You should've just let me be,'
'I can't,' he managed to say, 'it will hurt me too much,'
Shinichi closed his eyes, as Shiho bit her bottom lip to ease the pain. Crowds of people gathered around the scene, pitying the couple. At last, she couldn't hold it in any longer, her cries got louder and louder, as the sound of sirens rang over and over again in her head.
A/N: Looks like none of you got the last riddle. So here's some hints.
1. Think of the riddle creatively not logically.
2. Focus ONLY on the numbers in the riddle.
Because schools starting, the updates may be more random, so if I don't post on Sundays, its probably bc I have school assesments and stuff like that.
