Clarie's pov

I woke up expecting to feel Eiden's strong but comforting arms around me but I didn't

I tried to ignore the sense of heart break that he wasn't there as I sat up and rubbed the sleep from my eyes. It's was only 7am and Eiden isn't in his room at all.

When I got out of bed, the early morning cold hit me like a large wall of ice. I wore a black sweater Eiden left on the edge of the bed.

I snuggle into it and the urge to smell it like a deranged person was inevitable, it has this distinctly Eiden's smell the just drives me wild.

When I got out of the bathroom, he walked in at the same time. A tray was in one hand and a present in the other.

"Hey, merry Christmas"

I sat cross legged on his bed as he closed the door and smiled at him, studying the items in his hands.

"Merry Christmas" I reply "what have you got in the tray?"

"When we were young, Emma and I used to drink hot coco as we unwrap our presents. So it's just kind of an habit now"

I chuckled "this is so weird"

"what is? " he asked

"you acting all homely and kind"

"and what's so weird about that?" he said giving me a mug from the tray

"it's just that you're like a grinch every other day" I said, a smirk playing on my lips

"no I'm not" he protested

"yeah, right"

He rolled his eyes Derek Hale style and drank his coffee

"are you going to tell me what you have in the box?"

"you know that's my favorite sweater you're wearing" he nods at the sweater

"seriously Eiden." I raised my brows "You're  stealing my concept of avoiding conversations" I said after taking a sip from the coco

"I didn't do nothing" he shrugged his shoulders making me roll my eyes

"are you going to tell me what's in the box or let me die of curiosity" I said

"OK fine" he laughed and moved the tray from the bed replacing it with the box wrapped in Christmas paper.

"what's this" I pushed the box to him and he pushed it right back to me

"it's a Christmas gift"

"but I didn't even get you one" I said, guilty pinching me

"it doesn't matter. Open it" he said

I brought my hands to the wrapping material gently tearing it till a long red box was revealed. I looked up to his face, probably for permission that he granted.

I slowly opened the box and the sound of orchestra playing at an opera sang in my head "ahhhhhhh!..."

"oh my God. It's beautiful," I brought out the long necklace placed in the box. It was a cross. "I love it"

"here," he took it from my hands "let me show you something crazy"  he pressed the center of the image of Jesus on the cross and a swiss knife pooped out.

I gasped and he just laughed at my terrified look. "Now I love it even more" I took the necklace from his hands and examined the knife carefully.

"thank you" I put the knife back in before I wrapped my arms around his neck pulling him close.
