Clarie's pov

The drive to the court house left me an anxious wreck and when we got there it was even much worse.

When I told my parents that I was invited to give a confession they were not really surprised, my Dad volunteered to come with I and Eiden but this morning he had to take care of some issues concerning my Aunt's wedding.

My Mom also was busy but thankfully Sam accompanied us.

When I entered the court room it was mostly brown and black and definitely the most serious place I've ever been, even more quiet than the library regardless of the small chit chat around.

We were told to seat on the side of the defence, and on cue we quickly settled down.

I looked around at a lot of faces and not even a single one was familiar.

I heaved a sigh but I was not able to ease into the chair.

"what if they don't put him in jail" I muttered

I can't even imagine myself going through what I went through again with him.

"don't say that babe, he would be given the right judgement" Eiden reassured me from my right while Sam just held my hand in support.

I felt strong hands rest on my shoulders from behind and I jumped.

I looked back to see my new officer friend, officer Rivera and a smile appeared on my face.

"how are you doing today Clarie?" he asked

"i'm very good, thank you" I felt a shiver run down my spine at the release of my words and almost immediately a young lady came out of a door next to the judge's seat.

Officer Rivera looked up "okay, it's about to start" he said "I'll be back" he went outside as people started settling down.

"may the court rise" the lady, dressed in smart trouser suit and heels, with her hair in a very tight bun said. I wonder if her scalp hurt.

We all stood up as the judge walked out and stood in front of his seat, he looked like he was in his forties, so young than I imagined. In his normal judge gown, cap and all"You may all be seated" the judge said and we all sat down.

"may the accused be brought in" the judge said and on cue the doors opened and Chris was brought in by two officers. He was handcuffed and restrained, a woman from the accused side that had blonde wavy hair dressed in a yellow sun dress gasped and started crying almost immediately.

"Mrs Dunbar" officer Rivera came around and sat next to Sam gesturing to the woman crying.

"that's Chris's Mom?" I was shocked and my voice was laced with it.

"his family is sort of dysfunctional, his Mom left him and his Dad a year ago," he gestured at the man next to her that had short black hair and was dressed in jeans and a long sleeved white shirt consoling her. By the looks of it he still loved her. "but now they're back together but their son is going to jail because of her bad mistake" he said

When Chris walked past us he held an emotion in his eyes that I couldn't place but when he walked further to where his parents were I saw what he felt. Seeing his Mom after a year finally back home and him going to jail probably did something to him, because he stopped walking and looked at his parents for almost a minute before the officers nudged him to start walking again.

He was taken to the very front row and stood next to his lawyer.

"I hereby state that this court session commence at 9am" the judge said and hit his wooden hammer on the platform underneath it twice.
