Me and Jamie glared at each other for a few seconds before Sophie walked over to us.
"Woah, woah, woah! You two really need to calm down for a bit! Goodness, you've been glaring at each other for the last ten minutes!" Sophie then stepped in between the two of us and wrapped her arms around our shoulders.
"Can you please let us go?" Jamie asked, seething. I could tell that he was about to blow up.
To be honest, I wasn't sure why. I mean Sophie didn't exactly do anything. (Neither did I but I'll ignore that for now).
Anyway, a few seconds later, Sophie let go of us before shifting into a husky and sniffing the air.
I looked at Sophie curiously once she shifted back to human.
"I thought I could smell something weird but my senses aren't as strong when I'm in human form so I needed to shift to check," she explained.
Although it did kinda make sense, I still wanted to ask her more questions about her powers. I mean, half of the things her powers can do don't make sense!
Just thinking about it hurts my brain.
"So, what did you find?" Jamie asked.
"I can smell someone unfamiliar. I don't know when they came in but they're here," Sophie then said, causing Jamie to look at me smugly.
"See? It's still dangerous for you," Jamie said, folding his arms.
I was about to roll my eyes and tell him how stupid he was however I couldn't because, Sophie yelped loudly, pointing at something.
I looked at where she was looking and saw a flurry of arrows heading directly towards us.
Bleep my life!
I reacted quickly and generated a wall of light. I heard thousands of gasps and screams but attempted to ignore them all _ I needed to protect myself and everyone at the ball.
When I saw the arrows hit the wall, I realized that it was pure black _ enhanced with some strange magic.
When the two forces met, I felt a strong force push me back a few steps.
"EVERYONE GET OUT! THE BALL'S OVER _ GET THE HEADTEACHER!" Jamie yelled before standing next to me.
I really didn't see the point in ordering the other students around seen as they were already probably running away but I was still thankful that Jamie was looking out for the others.
"Need help?" He asked.
"Nope, got this under control," I replied, however just as I said that, I was pushed back a couple more steps and almost tripped on my own feet, "BLEEP YOU YOU BLEEPING ARROWS!"
Jamie chuckled quietly before standing next to me. He then summoned a wall of water, pushing my wall of light forward.
Both of our powers together destroyed the arrows, causing it to crumble away.
The two of us just stood there, out of breath: I couldn't believe that just a simple attack would be so hard to thwart
"You're better at illusions now," Jamie said, breaking the silence.
I looked at him curiously before looking down at my dress: the illusion disappeared seen as most of my energy was used on protecting me and Jamie.
"Well, I had a lot of practice," I replied, smiling tiredly at Jamie.
I was completely worn out and just wanted to go back to sleep.
I yawned loudly, causing Jamie to stretch tiredly.
I didn't even get why he was tired _ he didn't exactly use his powers for over an hour and a half!
"What happened?" Mrs Blackburn demanded, storming into the room followed by Sophie.
"We were attacked by this weird type of magic," I said, yawning once more.
"This is worse than I thought," Mrs Blackburn muttered under her breath, "You and the other royals will go to the Celestian palace a day after tomorrow."
"What about Maxine and Ash?" I then asked. I suddenly felt worried that my two best friends wouldn't be able to go with me.
A couple of days after the headteacher announced that me and the other royals were going to the Celestian palace, Sophie, Maxine and Ash all pestered the headteacher and they essentially forced her to let Maxine and Ash join us.
"They will join you in a couple of weeks. During the Genesis holidays." Mrs Blackburn then said before turning around and doing whatever headteachers did.
The Genesis holidays were a time of the year where some students got a day off. The Genesis was basically when the Founders worked with the elements to create Celestiam.
It's a long story and I'd rather not get into it.
Anyway, then, Sophie hurriedly scurried away, leaving just me, Jamie and an awkward silence.
"Well... that was a nice date..." I said awkwardly, while Jamie laughed loudly.
"Nice? I thought it was more fun than that..." Jamie then said childishly, pouting.
I swear that guy is such a big kid!
Anyway, after we spent a few minutes laughing like maniacs, the two of us finally headed over to the royal's wing.
"'Night! I'm gonna need some rest after that!" I laughed quietly.
The two of us were standing by my bedroom door. Both of us were looking completely tired.
"Lisa," Jamie began, causing me to look up at him, "Do you think we're ready? Ready to fight?"
I looked at Jamie for a few seconds before smirking, "You have such little faith in me, oh young naive jammie dodger."
Jamie simply rolled his eyes before patting my shoulder, "Good night, Lisa."
He then turned around and walked towards his own room. When he vanished from my line of sight, I turned around and walked into my room.
I walked into my bathroom and changed my clothes. I then flopped onto the bed next to Maxine.
Finally, I allowed myself to fall into a dreamless sleep.
