"I want to see him," I told Jamie stubbornly, causing him to shake his head.
"No way, you've only just woken up _ I'm not gonna let you waste your recovery time on a silly request," Jamie replied sternly.
"A silly request? You do know that he saved my life, right?" I snapped frustratedly.
I wondered why Jamie wouldn't let me see Charles. I was perfectly fine and alive so what was stopping me from seeing him?
"Listen to me... Charles... he could hurt you... you're lucky enough that you're still alive. You can't be reckless every day. Right now, you need to rest, to recover. Then we may consider seeing Charles," Jamie said sighing at my impatience.
I rolled my eyes at Jamie. He wasn't my dad _ that was Mark's job and I can not have two idiots worrying about me 24/7.
"Please, Jamie," I said quietly, forcing a tear to trickle down my eye.
I saw Jamie gulp loudly before trying to avert his eyes away from my face _ my plan was working.
If there was one weakness all of my friends had, it'd have to be how awkward they are around crying people.
Every single person _ even Mark _ would start to get uncomfortable when I cried.
A few years ago, I learnt how to fake-cry. It helped a lot whenever I was trying to get something from my brother and I decided to test it out on Mr jammie dodger himself.
My conclusion, everyone falls for it.
Once my sobs became hysterical Jamie sighed and yelled, "FINE I'LL BRING CHARLES HERE, OK? Just... just stop crying."
I immediately calmed down and started wiping my tears away, "Promise?" I asked quietly, causing Jamie to nod.
He then got up from the chair he was sitting on and went to wherever Charles was.
"I don't get how he couldn't tell that you were faking it," Mark simply said.
I then looked over at him and smirked, "What about all the other times I did that trick on you?"
I heard Mark grumble a few things under his breath, causing mum to gasp and yell, "MARK BENSON STONE, TAKE THAT BACK NOW!"
I sniggered quietly. Mark hated his middle name and it was a million times funnier when mum used it against him.
A few seconds later, Jamie came back with Charles. I almost gasped out loud at the state he was in.
Charles had dozens of bruises all over his face along with a few cuts on his arm.
"Mum, can you head down to Sophie's room ad check on her? And Mark just... just get out of the room before you try to kill someone," I looked at mum and Mark pleadingly.
I needed the two of them to go out of the room so the three of us could have a serious conversation without any interruptions.
The two of them simply nodded and walked out of the room silently.
"Sophie's giving you a hard time, huh?" I said casually, looking at Charles's bruises.
"She's gotten stronger," he simply replied, smiling fondly.
"Why are you here?" Jamie asked curiously.
I was very surprised at how calm Jamie seemed _ I expected him to murder Charles almost instantly.
"I came to warn you. About Arthur (the element of darkness). The opposite of your power, Lisa. Honestly, the man has gone insane. He's ready to declare war on you. He'll attack Tempus first, and then his forces will spread. He'll kill you if you don't stop him," Charles explained causing me to gasp.
Rose told me something about the element of darkness but I never thought that was a serious threat.
"But why are you warning us? You're on Arthur's side, aren't you?" I asked glaring at him accusingly.
"My surname isn't Fox. For a matter of fact, I'm not even related to Mrs Fox. I am an orphan whose parents were murdered," he then lifted his hands to his purple eyes and lifted something off his pupils.
Contact lenses.
The purple-eyed French boy was really a green-eyed French boy... cool.
"All I was ever told about my parents was that they were killed by either the element of darkness or the element of light. I didn't know exactly who did it. That's why I decided to join Arthur's side _ to take a look at all the people he may have killed. However, at the same time, my mission was to get close to the royals at Magus Academy, in order to get closer to you when you arrived. I was then able to find out about any victims on your side. When I saw that the royals had never even known of my parents, I knew it was Arthur _ it had to be," Charles then told us, causing me to look at him dutifully.
"Why suddenly turn on them? You were on their side for years right?" I inquired.
"Something's happened to Arthur. He's become a delusional monster and I know that if I stay there any longer, he'll kill me."
"Whose side are you on?" Jamie demanded, folding his arms whilst glaring at the boy in frustration.
"My side," Charles replied, "Until I find the evidence to prove that Arthur was their murderer, I'll remain on my own side."
I scrutinized Charles's face for a few seconds, checking to see if he was being honest. When I couldn't find any signs of him lying, I simply sighed.
"I believe you," I said quietly, causing Jamie to snap his head in my direction.
"WHAT?" He yelled, however, I simply ignored him.
"But, if you dare do anything that threatens my kingdoms, I won't hesitate to kill you," I said threateningly as my eyes turned silver.
I saw Charles smirk and looked at me... proudly?
"You have really matured, Lisa. You may still be young, but I can tell that you will be an incredible leader," Charles said, causing me to smile softly at him.
"Have you told this to Sophie?" I asked curiously, thinking about my friend's reaction to Charles's story.
"Would it really make a difference? She hates me," Charles dropped his head in defeat.
I looked over at Jamie. Seen as he was very protective of Sophie, I wanted to see what he thought of Charles and his past relationship with Sophie.
"She may hate you now," Jamie began causing Charles to look up, "but my sister is a very forgiving person. If she can forgive me, she'll forgive you."
I looked at Jamie in disbelief. He somehow supported the same person who broke his sister's heart.
I then smiled at Jamie proudly. Although he didn't personally trust Charles, he trusted my judgment.
"Thank you," Charles said quietly, bowing his head in respect.
"Why don't you talk to her now _ the earlier you start, the better," Jamie advised, smiling softly at Charles.
Charles simply muttered a thank you before scampering away probably heading to Sophie's bedroom.
"Do you trust him?" I looked up at Jamie inquisitively.
"Of course not. But according to some of the mind readers who interrogated him while you were unconscious, Charles was telling the truth. And besides, the two of us can easily kill him if he tries to do anything... fishy..." Jamie explained.
"You really think she'll forgive him?" I asked Jamie, tilting my head in his direction.
"As long as he doesn't stop fighting for her," Jamie simply replied, folding his arms.
I really hoped that Jamie was right. About Charles's honesty and about Sophie.
