Lisa's POV (again)
Beep... Beep... Beep... Beep... Beep...
I grumbled quietly at the annoying noise. All I wanted to do was break whatever was making it.
Groggily, I sat up in my bed and sleepily looked around the room: I was in a medical room with that heart monitor thingy (still don't know what it's called) and tubes pumping blood into my arm.
I heard faint snoring and saw Jamie sleeping in his chair.
I felt a strange sense of deja vu _ you know back when I was mentally attacked and even during my first year when I discovered my powers.
"Hi Jamie," I said quietly before wincing.
My throat really hurt after all that screaming.
When Jamie didn't wake up, I simply sighed before lying down in the bed.
Why wasn't I dead? That final blow should've killed me _ unless something (or someone) stopped Eddie from killing me.
If that's the case then who could it be? I mean, there's obviously Jamie but I don't remember seeing him.
Then again, I was so distracted by the pain that I wouldn't have been able to notice if anyone came to save me.
I needed to be saved.
I sighed angrily when I realized that I couldn't protect myself.
I was against one person. One man and I failed.
How was I supposed to protect my own world if I couldn't protect myself?
I bit back my tears, clutching the bedsheets.
"You're more powerful than you think," Jamie said quietly, causing me to look up at him.
"So why couldn't I protect myself? Why is it that so far in my life I had to have people save me? I'm worse than useless," I replied, frustrated.
I wasn't angry at Jamie, I was angry at myself.
I should be the hero, killing any enemy that tries to get all up in my face, not the vulnerable damsel that can't do anything.
"Lisa, first of all, you're an idiot," Jamie began causing me to smile.
Off to a great start, I thought.
"Second of all... you're still an idiot," Jamie then said, causing me to snort.
By then I was only slightly annoyed. Just slightly. I mean, I didn't want to murder Jamie so I guess I was alright-ish.
Emphasis on the ish.
"And, most importantly, you're an-" Jamie then said, causing me to finally snap.
"OK, I GET IT, I'M AN IDIOT! JUST GET TO THE BLEEPING POINT!" I yelled, causing Jamie to flinch. I then winced due to my bleeping sore throat.
"Ok, ok, I'm sorry. Anyway, I was going to say that you're strong and such a good fighter. Sometimes I think that you are more powerful than me. That fight was unexpected and true, you should've been prepared for it but no one's perfect. You need practice. But so does every other soldier in the army," Jamie then said, smiling softly at me.
I couldn't help but smile at what Jamie said _ he somehow always knew what to say.
I thought about what he said for a few seconds. Although he was right, it still didn't mean that I couldn't protect myself.
I mean, if we were going to get attacked I need to be able to defend myself, right?
Before I could say anything else, Sophie walked into the room and hugged me.
"To be honest, I'm so used to seeing you in some sort of medical wing that I'm not even gonna try and yell at you," Sophie said gripping my shoulders.
"Why? I enjoy it when you start to yell at Lisa," Ash whined causing Maxine, who just entered with Ash, to roll her eyes.
"Shut up," she snapped before hugging both me and Sophie tightly.
Suddenly, we heard a series of yells and footsteps from outside of the room. I curiously tilted my head, wondering who was making all that noise.
"Please Mrs Stone, be reasonable. Lisa doesn't need someone yelling at her ear right now," I heard Blaze say, causing me to sit up straight.
"Yeah, if anything, overwhelming her with a crowd of angry people will probably make her faint!" Leo then added.
Mum, Mark and all the other young royals were here.
"LISA!" mum suddenly yelled, pushing my friends away only to engulf me in a bone-crushing hug.
"Mrs Stone, you're choking her," Leo said as politely as possible, causing mum to look up and glare at him.
"Be nice, mum," I warned, quietly. This causing mum to look back at me and kiss my forehead.
"Little L," Mark breathed before rushing over to the bed and hugging me, "I was so, so, so, so, so worried."
"I love you too," I replied, smiling at Mark.
After a couple of hours of fussing over me, most of the people left the room, leaving just me with mum, Mark and Jamie.
"So," I began, looking up at Jamie, "Who saved me?"
Almost instantly, Jamie stiffened and clenched his fist.
Looks like he also clenches his fist when he's nervous, I thought before staring at Jamie demandingly.
Jamie coughed awkwardly before rubbing the back of his neck.
"Yeah, Jamie what happened out there?" Mark asked challengingly, causing me to roll my eyes: Mark didn't really like Jamie or even Ash _ I never knew why.
"W-well... you see... umm... hahaha," he then laughed awkwardly, squirming under all of our gazes.
"JUST SPIT IT OUT!" I yelled frustratedly.
"CHARLESSAVEDYOURLIFE!" Jamie yelled, speaking very, very, very quickly. Too quick for me to understand it.
"What?" I asked raising an eyebrow.
"Umm... well... Charles saved your life..." he then said, hanging his head in defeat.
I blinked for a few seconds, processing what he just said.
"WHAT THE BLEEP!?" I yelled loudly. I could hear the steady beeping become faster and faster as my heart rate increased.
Charles came to save me. He saved my life. As in... he saved my life... HE BLEEPING SAVED MY LIFE!
Wait... CHARLES WAS HERE?
Why would he even save me? I mean, last year he was so determined to kill me _ why would he suddenly change his mind?
To be honest, I just hoped that Charles's intention was good. I really did.
