Clary
"Red, there is no need to be sorry. I, for one, am glad they asked you. That just means they were being thorough. I really do have to help you! We've known each other for 12 years. You know I love you, and I care about your wellbeing. You're like a sister to me." Jace explains. A sister! He sees me like a sister! Of course...he doesn't see you in any attractive way! Jace...he knows what....He did. Jace knows I'm broken, ugly, weak, disgusting, and pathetic. "I have absolutely no intention of leaving you. By the time this is over, you're going to begging me to leave your side, and I'll be like nope." Jace pops the p and gives me that smile. I'll never not want you by my side. Jace and I burst out laughing. It feels sooooooo good to laugh again!
"What about school?" I ask getting serious. He's already missed a day because of me.
"Red, what month is it?" Jace asks concerned.
What month is it? I..I think...it's.... "It....it's May," I uncertainty reply.
"Red, it's June 9th. Yesterday was our last day of school." Oh great! I missed the last day of our senior year! I missed graduation! "Do you remember taking finals? We..we studied together," Jace asks concerned.
Then, it starts coming back, but it's kind of fuzzy. "Y...yeah, sorry. It's just my head is pounding and I got a little confused," I defend.
"It's okay, I just wanted to make sure you knew," Jace offers.
Suddenly, I feel like I'm going to pass out. "Jace...I'm..tired," I mutter.
"Red, let's get you to the bed," Jace responds. Walking towards me, Jace carefully grabs my arm and leads me to the bed. After pulling the bedding back, he guides me into the bed, covers me up, and sits next to me. I grab for his hand, but I miss, so Jace laces his hand in mine and I drift off.
"Clary, what did you?" my dad asks.
"Nothing, I didn't mean to," I defend.
"You told Jace!" He yells. I run away, but he catches me. He drags me into my bed and starts taking off my pants.
"Stop....please....I'm sorry...please don't do this...please," I cry.
"Red, wake up!" I hear someone yell and shake my shoulders.
As I open my eyes, I see Jace's golden orbs and I sigh in relief. "I...uh..I was having a nightmare," I stutter.
"It's okay," Jace soothes, and wraps me in his arms. I notice Jace's fingers find my mess of hair and he starts playing with it.
"Jace, why are you here?" I ask realizing it must be the middle of the night.
"You're mom had somewhere to go, and she didn't want to leave you alone," Jace explains.
"Where did she go?" I ask Jace.
"She....she went to the police station to talk to a detective she thinks will help us," Jace responds.
Us! I've really dragged him into this haven't I? If I could've just got him to leave me alone earlier, he could be at his house, enjoying himself. "Why didn't she take me with?" I question, knowing he knows.
"She didn't want you to go because of your concussion. She decided if the detective needed to talk to you, he could tomorrow afternoon," Jace reassures me.
I don't want to talk about this anymore! "I'm sorry...you had to see that," I shake as I remember the nightmare.
"Red, it's not your fault. We can talk about whatever you want or nothing at all if you'd prefer," Jace explains, and it's like he read my mind.
All I really want to do is fall asleep I your arms where I feel safe and secure! "Jace...I don't want to talk now. Would you maybe...hold me?" I ask, but I see his face and quickly rephrase it. "I mean just...until I fall asleep. I mean...you don't have to...hold me...I just..nevermind...good night." I turn around, so he can't see my tears. Why are you crying? What is the matter with you? Of course he doesn't want to hold you! He's trying to be nice and you're making him uncomfortable. Misreading him....
"Red, please look at me," Jace coaxes. I refuse to turn around, and let him see his effect on me. So....Jace being Jace, walks over to the other side of the bed, and lays next to me. "Did...did I make you cry?"
"It's....it's fine. I'm just...emotional right now. With everything that's going on. Really, I'm fine," I lie, but he sees it.
"Red, you're in no way fine, right now. Okay, that came out wrong. I know you, and I know you're playing it cool, but inside you must be a mess," Jace whispers in my ear. "I'm sorry for being shocked at your request. I didn't mean to make you think I was saying no. It's just...I was trying to figure out how to say what I wanted to...without sounding like a creep."
"W...what were you trying to say?" I ask. Was he going to say yes? Really! Great job! You just have to mess everything up, don't you.
"Well, I was going to say, 'I'd loved to', but that felt wrong to say," Jace blushes.
"Jace I asked. If I didn't want you to hold me, I wouldn't have asked." I explain. It's just that in your arms...I feel safe and sound.
"In that case, I'd love to," Jace responds, and pulls me into his arms. I snuggle close to his chest, and he rests his chin on my head. That's how we fall asleep.
