Ch 39
Delhi
Chandhini watched the passing lights of Delhi night from the window of her car. Tears fell from her eyes, her mind still on Veer. The car took a turn and the lights were gone replaced by patch of greenery which turned gradually into thick trees. Another ten minutes and they were entering the house, Chandhini felt a gloom settle in her. She closed her eyes and put her head back against the seat. The car curved through the car drive and stopped in the porch.Chandhini went upstairs to their room and feeling fatigued sat on bed. Her brain was numb. She felt like she was in a nightmare. When Advay walked in seeing his face pushed her limits, chandhini picked up the book and threw at him, then she picked up pillows and threw at him, he dodged them easily, angry she picked the vase on bedside table and threw at him, it sailed past his head and through the open door and crashed into pieces on sitting room floor.
Next moment, Advay had her both hands in his grasp as he stopped her from throwing the intercom at him, 'behave yourself'' he angrily told her.
chandhini struggled to get free and tried to bite him but he pushed her on bed, his body trapping her, making it impossible for her to move.Frustration and anger made the tears in her eyes spill out. She sobbed,'' You told him everything, and now he doesn't want to talk to me. You promised you wouldn't tell anyone but you told him. ''
Advay looked down at her and said,''yes, I told him everything.''chandhini sobbed harder.
Advay wiped her tears,'' I didn't break my promise, you broke it. I told you to not involve anyone in our personal matters but you involved him. Not only you tried to turn my brother against me, you used my phone without my permission and nearly caused swathi's death.
Its not my fault, you are responsible for everything which is happening. You are forcing me to do things I do not want and I hate it. I never had to guard my private things in my home, because it's my home but now I will have to be conscious that I don't even leave my cell phone unlocked.''
chandhini tried to speak, her voice broke off due to her sobs but she managed to say,'' I didn't mean to Advay, she was texting you day and night, it made me angry, I felt...''
Advay cut her off by saying,'' and you never thought to discuss it with me? No, you decided to reply her back, when it was clear from all the messages that I was not in cotact with her. There was no reason for you to behave like that except that's the sort of person you are vicious, moody and petty.''
chandhini,'' I am not, I was just je..''
Advay,''No more excuses chandhini. Today, I told Veer, he will not say anything to anyone but in future if you tried to involve any one in my family in our personal matters, I will tell everyone truth myself.''
chandhini,''I did not drug you, I swear I did not, you don't believe me but bro will, once he hears me out. I thought you were just drunk.''
Advay smirked again, his eyes hard, 'I don't believe a single word you say. And Veer is my brother, my blood, he will not listen to you or believe a word you say.''
chandhini brokenly said,'' He loves me as much as he loves you.''Advay looked at her, she was right, they all loved her but she did not love them. She had exploited their love. He felt no pity for her in this moment.
His eyes suddenly wandered to her lips, slowly his face lowered, chandhini turned her face away, more tears spilling from her eyes, 'let me go'' she told him.He didn't let her go, chandhini looked into his eyes, he was so close but all chandhini was feeling was an overwhelming sense of sadness,'' Advay, let me go''.
She stared into his eyes this time, letting him know that she meant it. Something shifted in his eyes, chandhini hoped his male pride was hurt!
He shifted and let go of her hands, chandhini moved away from him and tried to stride out of the room but her legs were shaking slightly. She ignored and moved forward and slipped from the step landing on the floor near door.
...
Her eyes opened on hearing slow murmurs.
''Dehydration and lack of food made her faint, nothing serious.''
Advay,'' Thank you for coming here Doctor on such short notice.''Both seemed unaware that she was awake.
Advay led the doctor outside the room. Chandhini slowly sat up, and put a pillow behind her and leaned back against it. She looked around where an empty drip was placed. She looked at her arm, there was a bandage showing where needle must have been inserted. She hugged herself, she had forgotten to eat.
She closed her eyes, don't think about Veer she told herself. She heard the sound of door being opened outside. Chandhini opened her eyes as Advay entered the room with a maid behind her.The maid took the empty drip and other things outside, closing the door behind her. Advay stared at her, she stared back at him, the silence stretched.
He came toward her and sat on bed near her, grabbed a bottle and popped out a pill and gave it to her. Then, he filled a glass with water and gave it to her. Chandhini swallowed the pill and washed it down with water handing the glass back to him.
She did not want to look at him, 'I want to sleep, I am tired.''
He got up from the bed and waited until she had settled on bed, then turned off the light and went to take a shower.
Advay came out rubbing his short hairs with towel. He picked his mobile and went out to balcony, he smoked while he replied to emails. That done, he stared outside, there was a light coolness in the air, slowly the summer was giving its way to the winter.
He went back inside and slipped into the bed, the sheets cool against his naked skin.
He laid there staring at the ceiling, he didn't feel happiness at being proven right that Veer will take his side, yet he wasn't sad either, he just wanted to get rid of this feeling that his life was not in his control. He was tired of the constant worry that his family will take Chandhini's side. Now she must have learned her lesson, she will not bring his family into it anymore.
He closed his eyes, turned on his side and tried to sleep, then he felt soft arms hug him. Chandhini pressed her face against his chest and came unbearably closer to him. But he knew she was sleeping, it was a habit of hers but which usually skyrocketed his hormones. He ignored his awakened body and tried to sleep, she needed rest as doctor had advised. In morning, he told himself, and willed himself to sleep.
...
Chandhini woke up entangled in Advay's hard body. His arms were like bands of steel around her, her face was pressed against his chest. She inhaled his male musky scent, the warmth of his body inviting her to snuggle closer to him.
She laid there and closed her eyes again, for the moment she can pretend everything was normal and right. But the pain in her heart won't go away, may be Veer was sorry for what he did, maybe he tried to call her but she didn't check her cell phone?
Feather soft touch of his lips on her shoulder jerked her out of her thoughts. The feel of his moustache hairs was hard in contrast to the soft touch of lips, they scraped her skin, the two sensations colliding but she still hadn't forgotten her loss.
She tried to move out of his arms but his arms won't let her go. He trailed his lips up her throat,'' Advay let me go.'' She nearly shouted. His eyes opened, he was still half asleep and stared down at her face in confusion.
His arms fell away letting her go. Chandhini got up and straightened her shirt, realizing he was naked, he usually slept that way here. She got out of the bed, and tried not to look at his body. She still felt weak but better from yesterday. She turned to go to washroom but his voice stopped her.
Advay,''Chandhini.''
She turned to look at him, the sheets were pooled to his foot, he was unapologetically male and totally unashamed of his current lack of attire. She stared in his eyes, her cheeks slightly reddening. She rarely get the chance to see him this way because usually she was in bed with him.
Advay,'' Come here.''
Chandhini ,''No. You should not have told Veer. You broke your promise.''
Advay sighed and rubbed his eyes with one of his hands,'' You cannot tease me like this and then go away.''
Chandhini looked at him bewildered, she had teased him?'' Did you hear what I said? If you want me to come back there, then you better make Veer listen to my side of story too.''
Advay glared at her, Chandhini glared back.
Advay,'' I told him truth and he accepted it and it's high time you stopped lying to yourself too!''
Chandhini,'' No,it was aditi,she..''
He was up and standing near her in a blink of eye, his anger so vibrant that it felt like a real thing, 'did she force you to come in wash room against your will too?'' Chandhini took a step back he literally towered over, he moved forward, his voice soft,'' did she make you hug me? Did she...''
Chandhini replied defensively,'' I was drunk too!''
Advay,'' Veer knows the truth and I will not talk to him on this issue ever again and you better will fulfil the bargain you made with me before you shifted to Delhi.''
Chandhini covered her ears, not willing to hear anything more, she turned and ran to wash room and closed the door shut behind her and leaned against it tears running down her cheek.
