Dinner time
Chandhini looked around the table everyone was silently eating with a sombre air as if a bomb was going to be detonated soon. She rolled her eyes. So much melodrama over the simple fact that she was shifting to Advay's room today.
She guessed everyone was worried about Advay's reaction. She wasn't. It was Advay after all not some stranger.
Although, she felt bad that he wasn't eating with everyone. He had left early in the morning and came sometime in evening and told servant who was sent to call him for dinner that he had already eaten outside. No wonder I have a tendency for throwing tantrums after all I have learned from the master, Chandhini thought to herself with a smile.
Most of the guest were gone ,except for aditi whom Chandhini thought Khushi had asked to stay over for dinner ,most probably she will be the one to take Chandhini to Advay's room and in front of a stranger Advay probably(hopefully) won't create any scene.
Chandhini was missing megha who had to go back today for a visit to sid' ancestral home in Rajistan. She would definitely share Chandhini's humour.
After dinner ended, everyone seemed busy suddenly. Baba got a call and he left. Veer said he needed something from his room while he climbed the stairs toward Advay's room even though his own room was on ground floor.
Ayi went to kitchen calling rani to clear the table. Sheekha, who was eight month pregnant, was trying to pick up the heavy tray laden with dishes, Chandhini quickly took the tray from her hands knowing an argument will result if Khushi or Veer saw Sheekha working.''Vahini, why don't you give aditi company and I will take these to kitchen.''
Chandhini took the tray to kitchen and put it in sink. Then went back outside and joined Sheekha and aditi in the sitting area. Aditi was telling Sheekha some funny tales about what happened on her wedding day. Chandhini teased Sheekhaa and told aditi about how Veer was caught outside sheeka's room by khushi on sheekha's first night here. Sheekha's face became as red as tomato probably remembering something which no one else knew.
Chandhini silently took a bit of kajal and put a spot near Sheekha's ear. Sheekha laughed,''Chandhini!''
Chandhini said jokingly,'' I am buttering you up vahini'' but in reality Sheekha looked exquisite. She was beautiful women naturally but love of Veer and the glow of motherhood had made her so beautiful that sometime you just want to sit and admire. She seemed to be full of life and happiness, seeing her made one believe in all the good things in world.
Chandhini silently prayed that this time nothing went wrong with Sheekha's pregnancy. she has been trying for years to become a mother but for some reason, she always miscarried and the threat to her life increased each time she tried.
Ayi,baba and Veer were not in favour of Sheekha trying again but as usual she had managed to persuade everyone to let her try one last time.
Chandhini came out of her thoughts hearing her name. Khushi was there to take Chandhini to Advay's room. Chandhini went upstairs with them thinking it would be better if no one was with her just in case Advay lost his temper.
She picked up her small bag containing her night suit and toiletries and sort of marched with everyone to Advay's room. Chandhini stood at door and looked up at Khushi and Sheekha, both looked slightly paler.
Chandhini gave them a big cheerful smile and with aditi on her side went inside. It was a bit of anti-climax to find the room empty after so much build up but then she heard the shower sound and breathed in relief. He hadn't left the house.
Aditi,''Its getting late I think I should leave now, will talk to you tomorrow.''
Chandhini gave a quick hug to aditi and said, 'Thanks for helping us in wedding and all, I am really lucky to have a friend like you.''
Aditi, ''Now we are friend, so no need for any formality, if you need me anytime for anything, just let me know. Now I must go, bye.''
She went out and Chandhini changed from saree into her comfortable pj's. Then took out her hair brush and begin the task of untangling her long hairs. Her hands paused mid stroke as the washroom door opened but then she continued, her heart suddenly beating fast.
