Chapter 6

7 years later

Chandhini parked her car and looked at an ashen face Veer who was still holding the dash board.
She cheekily said,''You alright bro?''
Veer tried to say something but no words came out of his mouth. Finally on second try he was finally able to mutter, ''You are nuts''
Chandhini laughed teasingly and ,''I just drive a bit fast. ''

Veer,''bit? bit? You call that bit?. I almost had a heart attack! and its final, you cannot drive my or any other car until you pass your exams,which I doubt you can with your speed issues. You will not sit behind a steering wheel missy.'' With those words,he got out of car and stumbled a little, his legs still shaking, he went inside.
Chandhini got out of the car, grabbed her black prada bag from the back and stowed her D & G glasses inside its casing and threw it in bag.
She took off her ''car shoes'' and put on her high heels. They made a click click sound as she hurried inside. she dropped her bag as she stumbled in her haste. she bent down to pick it up, her escada jeans molding to her legs, the young Gardner paused to look at her but the long denim shirt she wore over her tank top didn't give him the chance to see much. Oblivious to all this, she stood up and went inside.
Veer was laying on the couch with Shekha sitting on sofa beside him going through some magzine. Sheekha saw her and pointed toward Veer with question in her eye.
Chandhini replied loudly, ''Shekha di, how do you live with bro, he is so boring, I raised car speed a bit and he is complaining like an old man.''
Veer simply put the cushion over his face. Chandhini threw the bag on table and sat on his chest,''This is unreasonable, I need my own car and for that I need to practice driving and you promised me in front of baba that you will help me!''
Veer mumbled from under the cushion,''yes, you definitely need help but I will book you with a shrink tomorrow.''
Chandhini looked at Shekha with a pout.
Sheekha immediately came for her help,''Veer, promise is a promise. you told Chandhini you will help her. No, backing out on your promise.''
Veer took the cushion off his face and called,''Ayi, ayi, please come here, they are ganging up on me again.''
Khushi came out of the kitchen to see what was happening and as usual the scene wanted her to put her head in her hands,''Chandhini, sit on the sofa.'' Chandhini realized where she was and quickly got up,''Sorry bro, hope I am not too heavy.''
Veer with his head buried under cushion said,'' you are fat.''
Chandhini retorted,'' and you are an ass.''
Khushi again cut in,'' Chandhini!!''
Chandhini pointed out at Veer,''bro,started it, he said he won't take me on driving lessons any more.''
Veer said,'' driving lesson? It was a lesson on''speed thrills and possibly kills''. You do not know the concept of speed limit.
Chandhini dreamily sighed,''but what a way to go.''
Veer,''Just turn your hairs blonde. please.''
It took a moment for it to sink in and then Chandhini was glaring at him. ''Did you just call me dumb!''
Veer,'' yes.''
Chandhini,''You are mean! I will tell baba advay, you just watch!, I won't ask you for driving lessons any more.'' she stomped away angrily. Then came back and grabbed her bag and then, again stomped away.
Khushi sat down on sofa and Sheekha gave her water.
Sheekha turned to Veer who was smiling and said,''I think she really got angry.''
Veer laughed,''No,she can't stay mad at anyone for more than an hour, soon she will back to nag me again. The little imp knows I hate fast driving that's why she deliberately did it''
Sheekha nodded. There was a yell from top floor and then someone running.

 Khushi who had her eyes closed shouted,''Chandhini don't run in heels, you will fall.''

Chandhini slowed down a bit and then again quickly ran toward them, ''I got accepted in college'' she said and then did a little victory dance.
Khushi smiled despite herself. Chandhini still dancing, came to Khushi and hugged her. Khushi kissed her on forehead and sent a silent prayer to god to always keep her smiling.
Sheekha got up,hugged and congratulated her.
Chandhini looked at Veer who was still lying on sofa and said with big grin,'' I got into college bro.''
Veer closed his eyes and replied,''what's the big deal, I knew you would!.''
Chandhini,'' so, not even a congratulation?''
Veer silently put his hand in his pocket and got out a key with a bow tied on it. Chandhini gave a shriek and jumped into air and somehow landed on her feet without any injury. Sheekha looked at her heels and shook her head in wonder.
She ran forward and grabbed the key,''Its a car key? right? where is the car?''
Veer,''in garage.''
Chandhini was running outside as Veer completed his sentence. he smiled, she was such kid.

Chandhini turned on skype and flopped down on bed. Advay was online, she send him a video call request and he accepted.
His face appeared on screen, he looked a little sleepy like he just got out of bed and had pulled on a shirt.
Advay,''Hi tiny.''
Chandhini,''Advay stop calling me tiny.''
Advay smiled and said,''okay baba sorry, won't say it.''
But Chandhini knew he would forget and will be calling her tiny again within the hour. So,she asked him,'' So, did you get the project.''
Advay leaned back in his chair and nodded. ''Yes, I got it.''
Chandhini jumped on bed as it meant that he would be coming to India. Advay smiled at her excitement and said,''Tiny, i have a big surprise for you.''
If possible her grin went even wider,''Surprise? I love surprises!..what is it?''
Advay rolled his eyes,''duh its a surprise.''
Chandhini ignored that and instead tried to guess what the surprise could be but failed. Advay was simply not telling her. Finally she admitted defeat . Advay asked her about her friends and she told him all the latest happening including the current episode of her friends's love story. ''Can you believe it Advay, he asked her to chose between us and him! I mean seriously, if I was at her place I will whack the guys head with my purse. He was being a top notch jerk.''
Advay asked and ''what did your friend decided?''
Chandhini replied matter of fact tone,''of course, she broke up with him. We are one team, no one mess with us and get away. Just see what we will do to him. he...''
Advay shook his head, teenagers!
He talked to tiny some more and then feeling a migraine coming told her he was sleepy and he will call again. Chandhini said bye and disconnected. 

He closed the laptop and closed his eyes. Few minutes later, he felt two arms wrap around him and then a kiss on his head. he opened his eyes and pulled her around so she could sit on his lap,the two lovers sat there silently giving comfort to each other.

Swathi gently moved her fingers throw his hairs,''you did not tell Chandhini?''
Advay smiled,''If i told her whole india will know within an hour. I want to tell baba and ayi myself. I want them to meet you first.''
Swathi,''you are sure that they will not object.''
Advay ,''no, ayi has been after me for ages to get married but I didn't tell her that I have found the bahu but she is not agreeing.''
Swathi,''I just wanted to be sure that I am the only one in your heart. You know I hate sharing.''
Advay inhaled her scent and said,''I am all yours.''...
Chandhini got up after talking to Advay and changed into nightie, she sat in front of mirror and brushed her hairs humming her favourite song. After she was done brushing her hairs. she put the brush back on dresser. and silently picked up one of the jewelry box and opened it,inside was a mangal sutra,she quietly looked at it and then closed the box and put it beside Advay picture in the photo-frame,'' I have waited so long, so long Advay. Finally you are coming back.''
