patch up

Chapter 50

Today, it was again Friday and she was landing on Mumbai airport with Advay. When they reached home, it was already late but as usual everyone was awake, waiting for them.

Chandhini hugged ayi and then sat down on sofa next to her. Thank god, ataya ji was asleep. Khushi seemed little tired today. Upon asking she told that she just came back from her conference, so was feeling jet lag.

Chandhini nodded. The servant brought tea, coffee for everyone. Chandhini refused hers, she was hungry. Her academy timings were such that she could never come on time for dinner. God save Pratham who usually brought something homemade for her. She couldn't eat the street food as she was not used to it and the one time she tried, she had diarrhoea for whole day, so that option was out for her.

Khushi touched her cheek,''hungry?''

Chandhini nodded,

Khushi,'' what do you want to eat, I will make it up for you.''

Chandhini,''No ayi, you are tired. I will grab something from fridge.''

Khushi laughed,''I am not that tired. But it will be helpful if you give me company while I cook.''

Chandhini smiled and went to kitchen with her. The chef wanted to help but khushi sent him to his room.

Khushi expertly cut the vegetables as she told chandhini to boil the noodles. Chandhini did as Khushi asked her to do. In 15 minutes fresh noodles were ready and chandhini was eating them happily.

Khushi watched chandhini's happy face and tried to keep her worry under the lid. what was the reason for chandhini and Veer's fight? It had been so long and two of them were still not talking. khushi had seen chandhini trying to patch up again and again but veer was not letting it go. veer was just like his father in this regard, they couldn't keep anything hidden, if they were angry you would know it.

she needed to speak to her son about it and in a way that it won't make things worse.

In the morning, everyone made plans to go to seaside.

 Chandhini had kavya in her arms who was happily telling her about her week. 

Sheekha smiled at the two and said to khushi,'' Kavya is exact copy of chandhini, the way she speaks, her habits, she looks like she is chandhini's daughter rather than mine.''

Khushi smiled,''I was noticing it too. She is closest to chandhini too.''

Veer who was following them threw a scowl at chandhini and kavya.

 After everyone had settled into condo they went outside to relax. Chandhini couldn't find kavya's hat among her things so she went inside to get it. The sun was too hot. When she went toward kavya's room, she heard veer and sheekha arguing. Veer was telling sheekha to keep kavya away from chandhini and sheekha was asking for a reason. 

Shocked and hurt chandhini turned back on her feet and ran outside. The rest of day she tried to stay away from Kavya. Then, sheekha picked kavya and gave her to chandhini.

Sheekha,''here, hold her she is missing her favorite person in the world.''

Chandhini looked at her face and cast a worried look at Veer, sheekha noted it and irritably said,'' whatever, I trust you. Ignore him''

Chandhini looked at shekha in gratitude and took Kavya. She had never thought that veer will behave in this manner with her and also, she had never thought that sheekha will take her side against Veer. She felt closer to sheekha at this moment.

Veer had noticed that since he had spoken to sheekha, chandhini was avoiding Kavya. Did she heard him? He felt guilty for a moment. God knows what stupid things he thought day and night now. Later, when chandhini took kavya from sheekha, kavya became really happy and chandhini was happy too. He could see she really cared for his daughter.

''veer''

He turned to see khushi walking toward him,'' come walk with me a bit.''

veer nodded. Both walked away from the rest of the family.

Khushi,'' why are you angry with chandhini?''

veer didn't say anything.

khushi,'' veer. bad thing, she is your little sister. if she did or said anything which you didn't like than forgive her, she is really young.''

veer,'' I will think about it ayi.''

khushi,'' No thinking needed. go and patch up with her before your fathers hears about it. you know how he will react.''

veer,'' ayi, its a personal matter between me and her and why does baba always take her side? not fair.''

khushi was quiet after hearing the anger in his voice,'' what happened Veer? why did you two fought?''

veer,'' just something stupid ayi.''

khushi,'' then why you have so much anger toward her. you know we are her family. Is your baba the only one who loves her? don't you love your little sister? so why are you angry that he cares so much about her.''

veer felt his cheek redden with embarrassment,'' of course ayi we love her but she has become too headstrong because of the unconditional love. she creates trouble for advay in Delhi.''

khushi became alert,'' what happened?''

Veer,'' nothing to worry ayi but please don't take her side all the time. I will talk to her later today and patch up.''

khushi nodded but now she was worried about Advay.

After finishing dinner, everyone started to get ready to leave. Chandhini felt like staying a bit more, at least having a walk on beach and she told khushi. 

Khushi said okay, she will wait for her to finish and then, both of them can go together.

Chandhini walked bare feet on sand. The water was cold at this time of night. She felt someone falling into steps beside her and looked up, it was Veer. She felt herself tense. Veer didn't look at her, just kept walking. Chandhini didn't say anything either. She had nothing left to say to him after what he did today.

Veer,'' I didn't mean to keep Kavya from you. I don't know why I did it. I won't do it again.''

Chandhini didn't say anything.

Veer,''I want to finish this fight with you. '

Chandhini,''So, you want to hear my side of story now?''

Veer,''No. I want to close this topic forever. What is between you and Advay, is between you two and I don't want to interfere.''

Chandhini,''That's not fair.''

Veer stopped walking and looked down at her,''chandhini, I really love my brother. What you did was very unfair to him. And now I don't care what you have got to say. Between you and advay, Advay is my priority.''

Chandhini felt tear sting her eyes, she wanted to ask why? Because he was veer's blood brother? She would never have thought such a thing few months ago but now that was what she believed. She didn't ask him. But she did want to tell him something,'' Veer I want to end this quarrel too and I promise you I will never discuss Advay with you. You lost the privilege to be someone with whom I shared all my happiness and my sorrows. '

They stared at each other silently and then went down toward the cars. Veer didn't like what she had said but then, what else could he do?
