My eyes opened up the next morning, registering an unknown room. Looking around, I saw an unfamiliar beige coloring on the walls, far from the blue gray walls of my bedroom. I sat up in the bed, then realized that this wasn't my bed. I swung my feet over the edge of the bed, launching myself up. Where the hell was I?!? All I remember is that I was over at Mac's for some sort of date/hangout night with his friends. We were in the midst of watching a movie when I rested my head against his shoulder for a brief moment- wow, do I feel stupid?! I fell asleep and one of them must have taken me into the guest room. And here I thought that I had been kidnapped or something!
On my way towards the bedroom door, I saw that my coat and purse were on top of the dressers not too far away from the bed. I made sure that I had both of them in my hand before opening the door and walking out to the rest of the house.
I was almost instantly greeted by the sight of Mac, holding a cup of coffee in a to-go cup.
"Morning, I figured you'd have to head into work as soon as you got up so I made this." I accepted the cup graciously, before opening my own mouth to speak.
"Thanks, hope having me over for the night wasn't too much trouble for you guys."
"Are you kidding me? I love having someone in the house besides Bozer and myself. Let me grab my keys and I'll drop you off at your place so you can get your car for work." I didn't say anything else as I let him grab his keys.
A few moments later, he came back with his keys and a smile on his face as he began leading me towards the front door.
Once again, another almost silent ride went on as he drove me back to my place. The only thing that was keeping us from complete silence was the radio softly playing in the background. Let Me Go by Avril Lavigne. Is guy not much of a car talker or? Cause If I'm going to be in the car with him as often as it seems it's been happening lately, I might just lose my mind. I'm a talker, OK?!? I always have been!
When the song came to an end, we had pulled up in front of my house. I had unbuckled my seat belt, but I could get myself to actually get up out of the seat and move! Come Raelynn, get up and moving! It's not like anything's keeping you here! Wait, on second thought- scratch that.
I glanced out of the corner of my eye to see Mac's eyes towards the floor of the car. The look on his face told me he wanted to say something, but there was something holding him back.
"If there's anything you want to say, you can tell me. I promise I won't get too offended."
"I know there was a lot of uh- people there last night but I'm still glad you came over. It somehow made everything more bare-able"
"Bare able? Aren't they you're friends though?"
"They may be some of the closest people to me but it's still nice to have someone new around. Even if it may have been the result of a failed attempt at me asking you out."
I found the slightest smirk rising to my face as I spoke up. "Failed attempt? It got me to say yes didn't it? Besides, I wouldn't say you've failed if I want to see you again after this. That, Mac, is considered a win." Leaning over the console slightly, I briefly brushed my lips against his cheek before pulling away to open the car door.
"I'll see you around." Closing the door behind me, I walked up the front steps on my house, a smile on my face the entire time. Little did I know, that he had one as well the entire time.
(Third Person POV, a few days later)
Mac came running down the marble hallway, Jack practically on his heels. Both of their boots squeaked against the floor as they made sharp turn after sharp turn. The two of them felt as if they had been running for hours when granted it was only a few short minutes. Not far behind them were bulky Russians, somehow able to catch up to them as they were drunk beyond the legal limit and being grossly out of shape.
