I don't remember much of what happened the last of the night. The only thing that I do remember is Mac wouldn't leave my side for anything. I vaguely remember trying to leave after an hour of being at his house and all he did was grab hold of my hand and pull me down next to him on the couch.
Which makes sense that when I open my eyes, I'm still laying on the couch with him beneath me. The constant beat of his heart felt through my back was calming to my still half asleep self. For a few seconds, I debated whether or not Mac was actually up or not. That is until I felt two of his fingers slowly start skimming the side of my body.
"I've been up for awhile. I just didn't want to wake you so I just stayed here. Besides I figured after last night with you showing up at my place I figured that there was a possibility of you not wanting to be left alone-"
"It's fine Mac, really. It's been awhile since I've gotten more than a few hours of sleep anyways." I spoke, the raspiness in my voice clear as I began to rub my eyes.
"Did you want to talk about what happened last night? I mean, you don't have to if you don't want to-"
"Last night, I found out that the store had been robbed last night. On top of them destroying most of the stock that I had, they broke into the safe I kept in my workspace. They stole my savings, which was $25,000 mind you. It was what profits I had made since I started working there plus the savings that I had in there, which was a majority of it. I was going to open my own building one day. Now, I doubt that's ever going to happen."
Silence then filled the room as I still felt nothing but the calming rhythm of his heartbeat through my back. I don't blame Mac, I really don't. How do you even respond to something like that? 'Oooo, sucks to be you' 'I'm so sorry Raelynn' or my personal favorite. 'Is there anything I can do?' Yeah, like Mac is going to somehow magically make my $25,000 just reappear like nothing ever happened!
"Oh my god Raelynn- I'm so- I don't even know what to say." His fingers moved from skimming my side as his entire right hand came to rest on my abdomen.
"It's ok because I still don't even know what's going on. I don't know what I'm going to do. I'm going to have to rebuild and remake everything. I'm more pissed at the fact that all time was wasted and now it's down the freaking drain. Assholes." His once calm chest rumbled as he chuckled, placing his lips on my hair.
"Well, I'm sure you'll figure out a solution." Something inside of me kicked up, almost as if I was lighting a fire underneath myself. I jumped up from the couch, careful to not hurt Mac in the process as I began making my way towards the front door.
"Raelynn, where are you going?"
"Well, I might as well get a head start to restart my life since it's going to take god knows how long. I'll call you!" With coat in hand from last night, I practically ran towards the front door, the fire still lit underneath me.
I wasn't wrong. If I was going to have to get my savings back, I was going to have to start somewhere. Besides, it's going to give me time to think about whatever the hell just happened between Mac and me last night.
(Four days later, Third Person POV)
Riley walked into Cinema Secrets, a place she was skeptical of since the minute she heard of it. Not that she didn't trust the guys and their opinion, but it was just the name she didn't have high hopes for. Mac assured that this is where Raelynn would be. She didn't have to be a genius to tell that mac was worried about her. All she had to do was listen to the urgent tone in his voice as he asked her to check in on her for him. Apparently, she hadn't answered his calls for a few days and wanted to make sure she was ok. Riley figured something finally happened between the two of them, what she did not know. You don't go to being sort of friendly with someone, to being concerned about their well being overnight. It just doesn't happen.
