Chapter Twenty-Two: Taking Flight

Present time

Alex and Hazel were still at Alex's house. Hoping and wondering where Devon might be. Hazel knew what most people where planing. They had wanted to attack the Crein family for years. Hazel had known how Devon had gotten to their house. She had never known why though. Alex had wanted to ask what the mark was until Hazel spoke.

"We need to find him. I was waiting for this sign. He needs me, and you as well."

Alex sat there in silence and nodded to show Hazel she had heard her. They sat there randomly throwing out ideas on where Devon might be. She didn't know why Hazel had been burned just yet. She did however know what it was since it was now gone. It was more of a danger sense. Alex looked at Hazel and was about to say something when her phone went off. It was an alert on the SCFA website. She read the headline and started to read aloud.

"Successful raid on Crein family

The Symbol of Life army as finally been able to raid the Crein family even though we lost men we saw it as a successful raid. When we raided we saw that they took our main test subject. The subject we have been observing. Their symbol is quite different than ours. Their symbol is a black phoenix. Ours is a claw. The subject was living with the Grendo family as an adopted son for about eight years. Hazel Grendo is the last true Grendo living. She is now considered a traitor to the Symbol of Life Army, as the Creins seemed quite ready for the raid. Who ever helps Hazel and the Creins will also be considered an enemy to the army.

Hazel sat wide eyed due to the news. It was quite a lot to take in. She never thought she would see An update on the site since Bucky's death. That was nine years ago. Alex had looked at the last uploaded post and sure enough it was the one she just got alerted to. Then the one before that was exactly nine years ago to the date. 

"We need to go. Now," Hazel said fast and worriedly.
