"Why was he here?!?!"Kevin exclaimed.
And I told him everything. He nodded several times as if he understood. Brothers these days, like they understand their sisters. When I wrapped up my story, he abruptly stood up. I made a beeline for the T.V. again. I watched Kevin in my peripheral vision. He scouted around looking for something.
"Missing something?"I snickered as I disturbed the silence.
"My phone."He replied frustrated.
"Check the sectional where you left it."I grabbed his phone and tossed it in the air, only to catch it.
"What is so urgent?"
"I'm going to tell Dad. It's important, Hannah. If some guy just kidnapped Carrie just to lure you in, who knows how mad he is? That's pretty insane if you ask me."
"I know. Can you wait til he gets home? I'd rather confess myself."
He shrugged his shoulders. He would call. But I didn't expect him to actually listen to me when he popped the phone in his pocket.
I went to the fridge to make a sandwich when I heard a car door slam. From the window, I saw Dad coming in with his work attire on. He appeared the same height as his truck from the angle I viewed him at, but really he was 6,1'. Kevin was 5,11' and I was only 5,6'. I was Mom's peak height before she died. She was never too tall or too short, just right. Mom took pride in being the perfect height.
Mom and me had the same eye color, a light sea green, except she had black hair from her Father's Spanish roots. I got Mom's dark hair, but Kevin got Dad's hair hue, a dark brown. Dad and Kevin have bright blue eyes, Aztec Blue. We all looked related somehow in our family pictures. Kevin looked more and more like Dad every day. According to them, I was becoming like Mom.
Dad was waving a hand in front of my face when I snapped out of my thoughts. I smiled then returned to eating my ham sandwich. Soon enough I was asked about my earlier conversation with Cameron. By the way I mentioned Cameron's name, I could tell you Kevin was becoming the over-protective brother he was inside. Exhaustion swept over me afterwards and I fell asleep once my head touched the pillow on my bed.
Kevin hadn't intruded my room when I woke. It was 5am and I still felt a bit of tiredness in my body. A few minutes later, I was back into my beautiful slumber.
"Are you okay, Hannah? What did you get into?! Who did this to you?"May asked anxiously before classes begin.
"I got in a little fight. I'm fine. Just don't worry about it, May."
"Wait, was this who Rob Colton got in a little incident with? I will beat his ass! No one messes with Hannah Foust and does not drag me into it."
~
I saw everyone back up against the walls a bit as I walked down the hall. They were doing it at the other end of the hall too. Which can only mean one thing. Rob. I snatched a deep breath then kept my chin up.
It was the one and only Rob Colton in front of me at this moment. A shallow crowd became jam-packed in a matter of seconds.
I felt eyes drilling holes into the back of my head and body, watching my every move. My hands became clammy just as fast as the crowd formed. A frantic search begun in my brain as I racked the crowds for Cameron or May. Neither were present.
"Looking for someone? Afraid you can't handle me by your little lonesome?"He obviously found my nervousness.
"Well I was hoping your Mom would be here, but apparently she's at home popping popcorn for your tears when you get home."
Did that make any sense? Stupid! Don't make a fool of yourself when you have everyone staring!!! I mentally face palmed myself.
"Hmm....do you need your 'bad ass' boyfriend to come save the day, Foust?"Rob smirked.
"He's not my boyfriend. It's funny you finally have the balls to stand up to a girl..... I would kick your balls right now, but you can't kick what you don't have, right?
"So how about you go get yourself a slut, suck face, then get a damn life! No wonder the best you can do is slutty Sandy. What a shame."I tilted my head to the side to add effect.
"How about you stop wasting your time on smart ass over here and go to class?"His voice silenced us all.
"And here's that bad ass you requested."Rob added.
"Go piss off, Rob."Cameron placed a hand on my waist and tugged my arm for me to leave.
Cameron pulled me out of the crowd and into a staircase. We both had English 11 next, right across the hall from over current location.
"Don't go near him, he's working for Aaron, I found out. He's been a spy for 7 months now."
