The Moon. (Newt fanfic)

Chapter: 6

After jogging around the glade with Newt I decided to go to the kitchen for some lunch. Today we were having a salad and a PB&J sandwich. We didn't have a cook secured yet, but hopefully the next person to come up was a cook or a girl. A girl would be nice.

I sat on the side of a tree in a far corner and ate in silence. I didn't mind being alone matter in fact I didn't mind at all. I sat there thinking of things that we could improve in the glade. In the end I came up with the name keeper for the leader of a job. So, far we had a garden and runners for the maze. And we still needed a cook.

"Want some company?" I heard a voice say. I screamed.

"Ah! You scared me!" I look up to see Gally.

He laughed and sat down beside me. I looked at him and he looked at me. I could remember his face and voice, but where could I remember it. He was my brother that's all I knew. I was thankful that I had him.

"So, who do you think is older?" He asked.

"Probably you. You look older. I think I'm around 14 and your 15 or 16?" I guessed.

  He chuckled and said, "Your probably right."

  We both talked for 15 more minutes and then Nick told everybody that the break was over. I didn't have anything to do so I just sat there and leaned my head against the tree. I did notice that the runners weren't in the maze today. Well obviously because Newt was here today, too and he was a runner.

  I had an interest in being a runner, but I doubt Gally or Newt would let me anywhere near the maze. I sat there thinking of things that would help out, but was interrupted when a voice said my name.

"Hey Luna." Newt said. I hadn't even noticed, but Newt had sat down next to me.

  I looked at him and he smelled of sweat and earth. It wasn't an unpleasant smell, but I could tell he had been working.

"What's up?" I ask.

"Nothing much, just thought you were lonely." He said.

I smiled. He was so nice. He cared for other people and he seemed like the type that would put anyone before himself.

"So, what do you want to be?" He asked.

"I'm thinking about being a runner." I said. I knew exactly what his answer would be and I was prepared to hear an ear full from him or Gally.

"Absolutely not." He said.

"Why?" I asked.

"Because I said no!" He said. His voice was rising.

"Is it because I'm a girl?"

He looked at me and I looked at him. He had a bit of fear in his eyes. I wondered why. I mean it couldn't be that scary in the maze, at least that's what I thought.

"No, it's not because your a girl it's because it's dangerous out there. Got it?"

"No! No, I don't 'got it'. I want to run. Besides how dangerous could it be?"

  He seemed taken back. I had just back talked him. Yep, you heard me I just back talked him.

"Excuse me?" He almost sounded angry.

"Relax Newt. I was expecting you to say no, that is why I came up with an argument for this." I said.

  He raised an eyebrow and said, "Go on."

"First of all if the maze is the only way out, don't you think you will need more people out there trying to figure this place out? Second if you ever tell me what to do again I will happily drag your happy-," I was cut short of my conversation when someone strolls up in front of us.

"Is everything okay, here?" I looked up to see Nick.

I nodded and Newt said, "Luna here wants to be a runner. It's crazy isn't?"

Nick shrugged, "I don't think it would hurt if we got another runner."

I smirked and looked at Newt. He was going red. I looked back up at Nick. He had a curious look on his face.

"No. Nope not gonna happen." Newt said.

"I don't think it's up to you." Nick said.

Newt stood up and walked away just a little bit and Nick followed. They looked like they were having a heated whisper argument. I was just about to walk to them, but as I started to get up they both walked over to me. Newt looked furious and wouldn't look at me.

"Tomorrow I'm gonna have you train with Minho." Nick said.

"Thank you." I smiled and walked away not looking back.

Sorry I've been having terrible writers block lately and I know that this chapter was horrible, but I've got something big coming up in a few chapters, though.
