*Warning! Kind of a gruesome chapter and definitely heartbreaking!*
The next morning I got up early, ate a bit of breakfast, then went to the deadheads and waited for George. I kept waiting and waiting but, yet he didn't show. I was worried. George is a good guy and I was sure he wouldn't miss this. Something is definitely wrong. I walked out of the deadheads and started looking for him. As, I was looking I asked the other gladers if they had seen him and sadly they did not, so I kept looking. I finally found Nick by a hut that the builders were building.
"Hey Nick? Have you seen George?"
"Actually yes. I was about to find you and tell you that, Minho needed him to cover Tim's position today." Nick said.
"Wait! He sent the newbie into the maze by himself?! With no guidance?!" I felt so angry. Why would Minho do this?! I huffed and crossed my arms and checked my watch.
"I'm going in making sure he is okay. Cause there isn't a way in klunk I'm going to leave him alone." Nick let out a big annoyed sigh.
"I know, I'm not going to win this argument. Just please be careful." he said, in a brotherly manner, which I laughed at and he soon joined. After, I was done laughing, I hurried to my room and grabbed my bow and arrows and dagger.

After, me sprinting for 15 minutes, I saw a tiny figure a long ways away.
"GEORGE!!!! GEOGRE!!!!" I shouted. I could see he turned my way, but that was all. I started running to him, but then, from the corner behind him, was a huge spider - like creature, a griever.
"GEORGE RUN!" I yelled. He looked back a little bit, then ran as fast as he could. I slowed down for a second so he could catch up. Once he did, I picked up my pace. George quickly fell behind. I tried to help him the best I could, but it was so hard, with the griever right behind us. I quickly grabbed my bow from my back and carefully slowed down.
"What are you doing?!" George asked still running his best. He was breathing really hard, I felt bad for him.
"Keep running and do not stop, for anything!" I ordered.
I took out an arrow and shot the griever in its back, but it didn't work. So, I kept trying and shoot it in a couple different places, but it only made thinks worse. I cursed under my breath and caught up to George. I could tell that he was getting tired, really fast.
"Come on George! You can do this!" I shouted, over the griever's screams.
"I'm trying! I don't know if I can do this much longer!" He yelled. I knew I had to do something fast. I looked around. I had an idea.
"George! Do you remember where the cliff is!?"
"Yeah! I think so!"
"Okay good! I need you to go there! Now!" I yelled. I slowed down and let him pass me and turn. While he turned I kept going straight. Luckily the griever didn't go after George. I kept running and running for minutes, but when I was sure that George, had gone to the cliff, I started leading the griever to the cliff.
"HEY!" I shouted. "UGLY BEAST! OVER HERE!"
I finally made it to the cliff and George was there.
"Okay. Here's the plan." I whispered, quietly. "You go left I go right when, it goes to lunge at us." He nodded saying he understood.
I turned and saw the Griever walking towards us. It was getting ready to pounce.
"1, 2, 3!" We both jumped out if the way. The Griever stumbled and fell off the cliff. I let out a sigh of relief. I looked over at George. He looked terrified. Then he started laughing, like a manic. I shot him a look of confusion, while I was questioning his sanity.
