Secrets Of The Dark

Prologue

Henry stared at his parents with disbelief written across his face. "What the hell are you talking about?!" His father gasped,

"Don't take that tone with us young man. My office has a job opening in Whitechapel and that's where we're moving to." Henry looked at his mom hoping she would start laughing and admit this was all a big joke. She didn't, instead she said,

"Henry, we knew you'd react badly, but Whitechapel is a great town. Besides don't you want to get away from all of those criminals and emergency situation?" The blond chuckled to himself then answered,

"No mom, I like it here, I don't want to move."

"Move?!" Piper shouted angrily as she entered the house.

"Kids, no one ever wants to move, we have to." Henry's dad said trying to justify their choice. Henry muttered,

"I dont believe this..." As he walked up the stairs to his room. Once he was sure no one followed him he activated his whiz watch and called his boss.

"Hey kid, what's up?" Ray asked him. Henr sighed then flopped onto his bed.

"My parents are moving my entire family." If the situation wasn't so bad Henry would've laughed at how large Ray's eyes bulged out of his skull.

"What are you - I mean, what the hell? You can't move, your Kid Danger!" Henry rolled his eyes,

"Wow Ray, not like I haven't thought of that." His boss began to pace in and out of frame of the hologram.

"When are you leaving?" Henry checked his calendar before answering,

"Two weeks."

"That's just fan freaking tastic. Can you come into work? Charlotte and Jasper are already here." The blond nodded then said,

"Be there in fifteen." He hung up the phone then opened his window, climbed down the tree, and started the ten minute walk to Junk 'N Stuff.

He arrived at the junk store and opened the door, bypassing the customers waiting at the counter and entered into the elevator clicking the secret button. When the elevator doors dinged open he was instantly engulfed in huge. "Woah, guys, I'm not dying." Jasper let him go,

"Sorry man, it's just... I don't know what I'm going go do. You're literally my best friend, we've known each other for - well - since our whole lives." Henry nodded then turned to his boss,

"Sorry man. My mom said she wants to move now so that we can get settled in during the last month of Summer. There's no getting out of this one." Ray cracked his nuckles,

"I guess it's time to start looking for a replacement for you then... I want you to be okay with who the new Kid Danger is, that way you know the role is in good hands." Henry smirked,

"More like so that I know you're in good hands. Who were the other canidates for the original Kid Danger position?" Ray pulled up the list of names on the computer wall.

"Let's see... the first name, Jerry Karson. Now 17 like you. He's studied self-defense in multiple forms of karate." Henry shook his head,

"Nope, look at his GPA, no one with a 1.0 grade scale should be hired for anything." Ray slid Jerry's file into the trash then Charlotte pointed out a name,

"What about him? David Mould, doesn't he go to our school?" Henry vetoed the idea,

"He looks shifty." Charlotte crossed her arms,

"He does not. You just don't want someone to replace you." Henry crossed his arms and glared right back at her.

"You just want David to be the next Kid Danger because you think he's hot." Charlotte choked on the nacho she bit into. Henry smirked then turned to Ray,

"There's only one person in this room who I'd give Kid Danger to." Schwoz hugged the teen from behind,

"Oh thank you Henry! You will not be disappointed!" Henry shoved the inventor off of him then said,

"Not you Schwoz, Jasper." His friend looked surprised,

"Why me?" Henry smiled,

"Cause it's something you'll be good at." He placed his hand on Jasper's shoulder then gasped.

Time seemed to fast forward a good five years. Captain Man and Kid Damger stood on Swellview Mt. overlooking the city they've sworn to protect. "You did a good job today Kid Danger." Captain Man complimented his sidekick. When Kid Danger took of his mask it wasn't someone Henry knew at all. Captain man took off his mask to reveal Jasper wearing the superhero's costume.

Shooting up from a bed Henry realized he was still in the Man Cave, just in the medical wing. "How long was I out?" He asked his boss who was sitting next to him, Ray answered,

"Three hours. It's one in the morning, what happened?" Henry shrugged,

"I don't know... I had this weird dream from the future where Jasper was Captain Man and some random kid was his sidekick." Henry's phone suddenly rang startling both heroes, Henry answered it.

"Where are you?!" His mother demanded from the other end of the phone call,

"I'm at work mom, my boss is giving me extra pay and stuff." Mrs. Hart responded,

"Get home, we have to leave now. Your cousin, Ethan, got into an accident and is in the hospital." Henry frowned then said,

"I don't have a cousin named Ethan." His mom signed then after a few minutes she said,

"My parents adopted me but originally my mother was named Evelyn Weir. I'll explain it more when you get home." With that she hung up the phone. Henry stood up and grabbed his jacket from the hook on the door.

"I have leave now Ray... Thanks for, well, thanks for everything." Henry said as he gave his boss one last hug and left his work for the last time.
