Not Giving up: a Divergent fanfiction

Chapter 5: Four

The banging and screaming continued so I walked out of my room annoyed. When I enter the living room I see Marcus beating my mom and my little sister Lyndsay screaming trying to get him off. 

 Marcus pushes Lyndsay off of him making her go across the room falling on her back. I run to her and stand her up. I look her in the eyes.

"Go to your room and lock the door. Don't come out till I say it's safe. Got it." She looks at me scared and nods then runs to her room. I go over to Marcus and pull him off my mom and tell her to run. She shakes her head.

"No I will not let you take his beatings." 

"Yes listen to your mother Tobias!" Marcus yells.

I look at him and throw him across the living room and start punching and beating him with things till he is out cold. I walk over to mom and tell her we have to go. I go to Lyndsay's room and knock on the door. 

"Lynds we've got to go. Get some extra clothes and come on. Hurry."

"What about dad Tobs. Wouldn't he find us?" she sobs 

"He won't be able to. Just hurry while it's safe to come out." I tell her.

We arrive at the hiding spot me and Lynds always went to get away. I unlock the door and we go in. I carry Lyndsay in while mom is right behind me. 

"What is this place Tobs?" she asks. 

"Well it's Lyndsay's and I hiding spot when you and Marcus fought. We always came here to get away from the yelling and well tonight was different. He was beating you." I explain while putting Lyndsay in her room."

"You can sleep in my room I'll sleep on the floor in the Lyndsay's room. Goodnight."

I say while closing the door. I lay on the floor with some blankets and a pillow and go to sleep.
