Chapter 23: Tris

I'm on my way home when I get a phone call from my mom.

"Beatrice honey?"

"Yes mom what is it?"

see sounds worried about something.

"mom?"

"is Caleb around you?"

"No he's in his room... mom what's going on you're scaring me. "

"Beatrice your father was in an accident. He's in the hospital. They don't know if he will be okay."

I drop my phone. And stare down the hall. Tobias and Lyndsay walk in the house.

"Tris?"

"Beatrice. Beatrice honey, are you there? "my troubled mom says still on the phone. I pick my phone back up.

”mhmm y-yea I-im here." I stutter.

"tell Caleb he has to know."she says "I have to go. I'll call you later. okay?"

"okay." I say then hang up.

This all has to be a dream. I pinch my self to wake me up but it doesn't work. I just stand there. then Caleb comes from his room.

"Tris? What's wrong?"

"Dad." is all I can say before I break down. my legs feel weak so I fall to the floor and lay there. and begin to sob.

"what's wrong with dad?" he says

"a..ac..accident." my sobs soon turn in the full out crying.

"They don't know if he'll be okay." I say. Then walk to my room.

I sit there for hours crying my eyes out thinking about what my mom said. they don't know if he'll be okay.  my mom's voice keeps repeating In my head. I shake my head. even though my father was always at work or on business trips and never around. I still love him when he was around we had great times together. He even managed to make it to the father daughter dance with me in 6th grade. birthdays he would sometimes be there if he wasn't he would send me something from where he was.  We were always with the nanny when we were younger. 

my thoughts are inturpted when my door opens. Lyndsay pops her head in.

"Hey I brought you something." I wave my hand telling her to come in. she comes in with a lot of junk food and movies. 

"okay since you've been there for me since my mom has been in the hospital. I thought hey why not be there for you. We can talk about it. or watch movies and eat junk food. "she says. 

"junk food and movies." I reply. she nods and lifts up a bag of movies and puts them on my bed.

"okay. comdey? action? drama? romance? horror? or marvel movies?

I tilt my head."what marvel movies you got in there?"

"ummmm. Thor, all of the Iron Man movies, the Avengers and so on" she says. I tap my chin and pick the movies. I end up picking all the iron man movies Thor and Avengers. she nods her head and puts the remaining movie on the floor beside my bed and grabs the junk food. And bumps the on the bed. There are chips,Debbie cakes, chocolates, and other stuff. I'm sure if Tobias came in here right now and seen her eating all of this he will be mad.

"um Lyndsay. Are you sure you can eat of this? Wouldn't Tobias get mad?" she looks at me then at the door. She runs to it and locks the door. and comes back to sit with me.

"he will never know." she says. "now let's watch movies and drown our sorrows in the junk food." she says. I laugh and put the movie in and turn on my surround sound and get back on the bed. half way through the third iron man movie someone comes through my window. Lyndsay and I look and scream and runs out of the room. We run in the living room and find Caleb sitting there in a daze staring at the wall. but we don't see Tobias.

" Caleb. Caleb. CALEB!" I scream getting his attention.

"What." she says

"Someone is in my rooommm." I say. just then Tobias comes down the stairs. 

"Why did you guys run?" he ask.

"I don't know a tall muscular guy climbing through a window at night. and we are just two girls watching a movie with nothing to fight with. I don't know why we ran."Lyndsay says sarcastically. I laugh at her. The first I have in hours.

"I MADE HER LAUGH!" Lyndsay says. I laugh again and hug her she hugs me back.

"Now you sir explain why you came through my window."

" Well I came to check on you. lyndsay didn't come back which she said she would to tell me how you were doing. when I came the door was locked. so I knocked and no one answered so I went through the window." he says  "by the way why is there a bunch of junk food on your bed?" Lyndsay and I look around the room. She points to the window and says look.

"RUNNNN" she says pulling on my arm. we run to my room and lock the door and window and continue our movie.
