~28~ All Time Low

*Jasper*

"Jasper?"

"Mabel?"

"They've left."

"Oh. Thanks."

I sighed in relief knowing I was the only one home now as they all went on some walk. Better avoid any more awkwardness after the whole meeting between them and Maddie today.

I unlocked my door and immediately walked to the soundproof part of the entertainment room when I spotted Alex just sitting and staring at nothing.

"I was wondering how long it'd take for you to get here." he said not even bothering to look up.

"I thought you went with them."

"I bailed."

"And they let you?" I asked in disbelief. It took Mabel covering for me and they just let him off the hook?

"Well they did think we were gonna do a little bonding and become closer."

"Oh. Well I'll just get out of your hair."

"No. Sit. Let's bond."

I was a little scared and I have no idea why. He wasn't all that intimidating and he was younger than I.

I sat and popped the cap off my bottle of coke.

"Alexa's my twin. It's expected that I worry about her but you should know she's my other half. Basically, my life."

"I understand that and I do respect it."

"Should I be worried about what happened in the elevator?"

"No."

We were both silent after that till we observed a stray photographer lurking around on one of the TV sets.

"Should I be worried about you?"

"I get that you love her but shouldn't you have this conversation with Jeremy instead. For one I'm not in high school anymore so I'm hardly here and for another I'm not her boyfriend."

"That didn't answer my question though."

I just stared at him and shaking my head, I stood and said quietly to provoke him, "good night. My love to Alexa."

He swallowed and for the first time looked me in the eyes, "careful what you say."

"Or?"

"It won't be pretty."

And he turned back, making me leave.

About ten, fifteen minutes later I heard a knock on my door and ignored it but it was persistent.

"Look I don't care-" I started yelling as i opened the door and shut up when I saw Alexa standing there.

"Sorry." she said.

"What?" I snapped.

She stared at me and thrusted her hand holding a tray of food forward saying, "Alex said you didn't come out of your room at all and we bought some things on our way back so here."

"Alex said that?"

"Yes."

"Ask him if he came in here to threaten me then."

She stared at me for what seemed like an eternity before she finally spat out, "you're just an ass." and let the tray drop to the floor in a mess before she went into her own room.

Chase stuck his head out at that point and when he saw the mess he came out, "I could have sworn I saw Alexa with that tray."

"Get lost." I murmured before slamming the door.
