Never ever think that being popular will give you a fulfilling life. It is not a guarantee that it will give you happiness either. Oftentimes, it is the opposite. You can read about famous personalities, their lives dragged in controversies. Their lives in shambles. They don't have privacy and their world gets smaller and smaller as they become more prominent.
Fame can't be attained by force; it will not just dive into your hands overnight. It is achieved through responsibility and longstanding discipline. It is not really that important to be popular and impress people so you can be liked and take pride on it. You don't have to beg for their attention and dress differently, chase the hype, media exposure out of your talent or skill or do senseless things that your friends don't expect from you.
Popularity is not the remedy for loneliness. You will be happier if you have some quiet moment to spend your attention and concentrate it on people who accept the way you are, who considered you popular enough, people who will never turn their backs on you no matter what.
