”When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom.”
Proverbs 11:2
*************************
You have been a prisoner because you don't want to accept your reality. You refused to look yourself in the mirror so you could see your own imperfections. You deny your weaknesses. You pretend to be right. You decisively reject help. You refuse to concede that you are in trouble. You are a prisoner of your own pride. Winning against it has been your struggle because you are too self-assured of your own ability as if no one else in the world can do what you could do. You have an excessive sense of your own importance. You always pat yourself on the back and take the recognition for yourself instead of giving it to someone else. You have an addiction of being above the rest.
Pride is self deception, you might be trying your best to do the right thing, but you are sidestepping the very One who gave you all the wisdom and strength. You want to do everything on your own even to the point that you can not longer do it anymore. Remember the tragedy of Samson? He could have hurled Delilah out on her ear, but because of his pride his disgrace lead to the end of his freedom.
