Throughout the weeks after Natsu's "accident", and both of the Heartfilia twins went missing, rumors had started to spread.
Celeste didn't try to have any sort of interaction with her anymore, she felt that Lucy needed time to herself, even though she felt the need to at least try and comfort the person who had been there whenever she needed it.
Stacy was long gone, and on the other side of the town with Phoenix in their own guild.
The guild seemed to be slowly falling apart, everybody could feel it, but nobody said anything. People going on missions was a rare thing now, but for the most part team Natsu had stuck together- at the bar.
Weeks went by without anybody seeing Lucy, some claimed that she had gone insane, others said that her twin ended up killing her.
Some thought that the so called Luna was just a fake person that the guild made up to take the blame for all of Lucy's previous, and current wrongdoings, to keep FairyTail's good name.
But here we have seven out of eight members of team Natsu, filling up every stool around the bar. No one spoke. Gray got a guilty feeling whenever he looked over at Natsu, he was shallow enough to assume that maybe it was his fault Natsu had memory loss? Had he actually beat him up enough to cause brain damage?
But soon he caught himself and blamed it on Natsu's problems.
Wendy kept blaming herself for not trying hard enough to heal Natsu, and it was HER fault that Lucy had left.
"Did you hear about Lucy?"
"Mhm, mhm, people say that she's gone insane!"
"Insane? I heard she tried to SEDUCE a guard!"
Soon enough the gang had had enough, how dare they insult Lucy's somewhat good name right behind them?
Gray slammed his fist down on the counter, "Like any of you are any better, how DARE you insult Lucy?" he slurred, obviously drunk.
The group of teenage girls stared at him as if he was crazy, "Hey man they're only rumors," one finally chirped.
"I bet your entire existence is based off of a petty girl rumor," Gray hiccuped and then brought his hand up to his mouth, looking as if he had coughed up blood.
Erza gently placed her hand on his shoulder as she spun around in her stool to face the girls.
"Gray, if anything that those girls are saying is true, we would have already heard news about Lucy, as for you three," She shot every girl a menacing glare.
Each of them felt a little bit of their soul leave their bodies, when they realized who they were up against.
"Don't spread rumors around, do you hear?" Erza asked.
All three of the girls nodded in unison and carefully took steps away.
"The guild isn't the same without Natsu or Lucy," Happy said as he stared down at his little paws.
Erza sighed and put her hand gently on her forehead as she spun back around, with her back to the rest of the guild, "At least Natsu is beginning remembering some things," she said.
"I say we beat the memories back into him," Gray said as he struggled to get up.
"Gray sit down," Wendy said as she carefully placed her hand on his shoulder, "Lucy is gone and we just have to face that, Natsu needs to recover on his own do you hear? If you do that it will only make his condition much worse."
He looked back at her and then rolled his eyes, as he slowly began to sink back down into the comfort of the wooden stool.
"Should we maybe try to find Luna?" Wendy suggested, as she went to take a sip of her milkshake.
Erza pondered the thought for a minute, but then shook her head when she finally came up with an excuse to not.
"No, this is a matter for only Lucy to handle-"
"But Erza Lucy needs us," Gray argued, "She's got too much to deal with right now so why don't we-"
Erza looked over at him, with her scarlet colored bangs slowly sliding over her left eye. Her eyes seemed to be glowing with rage as she warned him, "Did you hear me? We can barely manage to take care of Natsu, let alone hunt down a highly skilled wizard, who has enough experience to take down more than half of our guild."
Gray stared at her, the entire guild had gone quiet and everyone else began to look over at the wizards.
"I thought that maybe you would want to help her too, but clearly I was wrong," He said in a defeated tone as he got up.
"And where do you think you're going?" Erza demanded.
He glanced back at her over her shoulder, "I'm going to go help out a friend of mine," he said and dragged his hand across Wendy's back as he walked in the direction of the guild's front doors, "C'mon you guys."
Wendy looked at Erza to see if she approved, but when Erza avoided eye contact with her, she turned away and began to follow behind Gray and the exceeds.
After the members had left, Erza thought for a minute, looked back at the place where Natsu was supposed to be at, and noticed that he was nowhere in sight.
She grinned and covered her eyes with her bangs as she requiped back into her usual armor.
"Luna you damn son of a bitch..." She muttered as she pieced everything together.
Soon she realized that there was no such potion to make anyone lose their memory for this long at a time, at least not anyone around.
