Riley reluctantly sat across from me between Parker and Hunter. As I sat down stiffly, I observed everyone else in the cafeteria. I spotted Elena and Janet in the corner sitting with a couple other girls. As I kept looking around, I found Colleen sitting alone. We made eye contact for a few seconds, then she looked down. I felt kinda bad for her. I've see people sit alone at my old school, but not like this. Colleen looked ignored, forgotten. Nobody was paying attention to her, even though she was blatantly alone. At my old school, someone would invite her to their table or at least talk to her.

"Looking for anyone in particular?" Wesley's voice caused me to almost bolt up. I turned to see his piercing, dilated eyes staring suspiciously at me. "No, just a friend I met on the bus," I said back, casually. He squinted his eyes. "Who?" He asked right after. Parker's daunting laugh interrupted us. "Chill, Wesley. I'm gonna go get lunch. Want to come Flora?" Wes got up right after Parker's request. "I'll come, too," Wes said, tugging my arm lightly. Parker rolled his dark eyes. "Alright. Oh, and Riley, you were mean today. You're not invited to come with us," Parker teasingly said, pulling on the blonde girl's short ponytail.

Riley frowned. "The only person that shouldn't be invited here at all is this girl," She rudely said, directing her gaze towards me. Parker whistled. "Uncalled for, Riley," Parker said right after. Wes tensed up beside me, while Lauren gaped. Hunter shook his head and Parker got up to go to the lunch line, ditching Riley completely. "If you have a problem with Flora being here, then why don't you just leave?" Wes said harshly. I inwardly grinned. Riley was starting to really get on my nerves.

Wes gripped my arm and lead me across the cafeteria, close to him. My heart hammered in my chest. It looked like a protective gesture. A lot of people were looking at us with shocked
