Chapter 17

I awoke still in my street clothes. The sun blared in my eyes as I checked my clock. It was well into the afternoon. I was confused at first, I never really slept in too late. That is, until my mind flooded with the memories from last night. I blushed as I turned over and pulled the sheets up to my chin.

The blankets had a subtle musky scent, evidence of Wesley. I smiled as I got up to change into other clothes. I wondered how long he had stayed. It had to be long enough for his scent to remain.

I glanced over to the roses, mentally setting a reminder to put them in a vase later. The sheets enveloped me as I snuggled into my bed, wishing I had been awake longer.

My weekend was uneventful at most after that. Spring Break is rapidly approaching, and Elena kept mentioning about her vacation to Spain. I remember on the bus ride home on Tuesday she even went as far as inviting me.

"Oh, Flora, It's going to be so fun! Janet had to cancel, she's going to Norway for vacation the entire Spring Break. Maybe you could come with me to Barcelona!"

Her eyes were bright with excitement. "Wait, wait wait, for vacation? Just you and I?" I asked, exasperated. Elena grinned. "Not just you and I, my family, a few cousins..."

I paused. "You're okay with me coming with your family to another country?" I slowly asked. She nodded.

"I mean, we haven't known each other for too long but we're good friends aren't we, Flora?"

"Well, yeah but..." Elena smiled. "Take some time so think about it," she interrupted. My mind immediately went to Javier. What would happen with him if we were near each other an entire week?

I couldn't believe myself. I'd never do anything wrong with him. I loved Wes. I didn't like Javier at all.

"I'll ask my mom," I finally decided. Elena gave a huge smile. It was then, at my stop, that Elena asked if I could come over to her house. "I can pick you up right when you get home," she said. I smiled at that. "Sure, why not."

When I got off the bus, I soon met up with Wes. It was routine now, and it always ended with us bounded together, kissing before I went home.

I immediately went to tell my mom that Elena was picking me up to hang out soon. She agreed, and it wasn't long before a black car was honking outside of my house. Mom smiled before I dropped my backpack on the kitchen floor and jogging outside to the expensive-looking vehicle.
