Chapter 16
My weekend went by way too fast. Visiting Elena was a shocking, irritating, and actually nice idea. After the whole Javier thing went by, Elena and I had a lot of fun together. It was disappointing when it ended.
The week passed agonizingly slow. I spent a lot more time with Wes. I sat with him at lunch, and he walked home with me after school everyday. Even as it became routine, there was never a dull moment with him around.
I didn't see Javier since Elena's house, which I considered to be a good thing. I could focus on Wesley now. But every so often my mind would wander back to those onyx eyes and dark hair, features that contrasting so much with Wes.
It's not like a loved Javier. He was interesting, but no-where near as important to me as Wes. Besides, he was Elena's brother. It'd take some time for the to sink in.
One night stood out from my week, one night that changed nothing and everything. Wes had been constantly telling me how he'd be able to come so easily to my house at night. And he'd be able to sneak in and we could be together. I kept brushing it off as my mind had drifted to what would happen if we got caught.
That is, until Friday. He suggested he could take me to his house instead, that no-one would be home. I was reluctant at first, but a few kisses and persistence from Wesley finally brought me to say yes.
The night air was unusually warm, even for Spring. Wes had walked all the way to my house to come get me. It was thrilling, leaving my bedroom window to go with him. He had carried me bridal style all the way there, amazing me how he never got tired. We spent the time laughing and talking, and I felt my love for him grow more and more.
Sometimes, between conversation, he'd lean down to steal a kiss. It was endearing and tempting all at once. And when we got to his house, he told me he'd be waiting inside, that I should meet him afterwards, And if his parents were somehow there, he'd let me know.
His house was bigger than mine, but it wasn't too different. It was a simple brick house, with two stories and plain windows. Wes released me by his bedroom window and told me to wait five minutes. I agreed and watched him jog around his house, probably entering through the back door.
