"Youngkyunie, it's time to wake up." Chanho said, poking the younger in the cheek. Hwiyoung turned away from him while trying to hide his smile. The older boy continued. "Get uuuup."
"It's Saturday. Why do I need to get up?" Hwiyoung said turning. He opened his eyes and saw the black-haired boy looking down at him, his large eyes sparkling. The boy gave him one last poke and a smile before hopping off of the bed.
"It's already after 10. Besides, your mom asked me to wake you. Let's get some breakfast. Three meals a day, remember?" Hwiyoung sat up and rubbed his eyes.
"How could I forget? You've only said it about 30 times now." Hwiyoung laughed giving his blankets a shove. He stood up and stretched. Chanho opened the door and Hwiyoung stepped out. They made their way down the stairs and into the kitchen. Hwiyoung's mother was setting four plates of food on the table.
"Here he is." Chanho said as Hwiyoung moved to the table.
"Thank you, dear. Come have a seat." The pair sat down next to each other and began to eat. She called for her daughter and sat across from them. "So boys, do you have any plans for today?"
"I figured I could show Chan around town. Maybe go to the park." Hwiyoung said between mouthfuls of food.
"Maybe we could see a movie later. Only if it's alright with you, Mrs. Kim." Chanho added. She smiled and nodded.
"Of course, that's fine with me. Just don't stay out too late." The boys nodded. Mina walked in and saw that the boys were nearly finished eating.
"Just start without me, I see. Good morning, Mother, Chanho." She sat next to her mother and began to eat. Hwiyoung put his hand to his chest, showing a hurt facial expression before standing up and taking his plate. He scraped the little food left over into the trash can and placed it in the sink. Chanho followed behind, not having to throw anything away.
"We'll be back down in a bit." Hwiyoung shouted as they headed back up the stairs. He walked through the open door and flopped onto his bed. "Do you want to shower first? You can borrow anything."
"Alright, I'll be back. I brought a few things with me. Thanks for the offer though." With that, Chanho was out of the room. Hwiyoung let out a load sigh. The older hadn't even been there for a day, but it felt like nothing had changed. Like he never left.

The weather wasn't the nicest. It was cold and slightly windy, but Hwiyoung and Chanho found themselves walking through the park and eating ice cream. They were quiet for a while, looking at the parents watching their kids, looking at the birds flying from tree to tree. They continued to walk for nearly 2 hours until they decided they had enough and sat down at a bench.
"Youngkyunie, we need to talk. About the things." Chanho said. He faced his best friend who shifted uncomfortably and looked at the ground. He knew this conversation was coming. It needed to happen. "It's why I'm here. We both know it."
"Yeah." Hwiyoung responded dejectedly.
"Start from the beginning. I'm here for you. Say as much as you want." Chanho grabbed the younger's hands. Hwiyoung took in a deep breath.
"I had been in town for about a week and a half. I was lucky to have gotten the job. Work was easy and I made good money, plus I was with a friend. One day this guy came in. The friend I worked with seemed to know him. He was really sweet and cute. There was a party later that night that one of our friends was hosting. He was going to be there so I went. When we were there I started talking to him. It was the basic 'when you first meet' kind of stuff.
"The next day he came in to the cafe and I gave him my kakaotalk id. We talked a little bit more there. Our friends were constantly teasing us. Talking about how we should get together, how cute we'd be. We got pretty close. I guess I liked him, but I'd never admit it. Then one day he asked me out and I said yes.
"Our friend was hosting another party so I went. You know I'm not one for parties, but after the first one I figured I'd be fine. He got pretty drunk that night. Don't worry, nothing happened. I know you and your mind goes to the worst places. Anyway, I was there to keep him up and make sure he didn't fall and suffocate in his own vomit. We made our sad attempt at dancing and he kissed me.
"School started and everything was fine. He joined the dance team with one of our other friends. He was on it last year. Things were good. We were there for each other. It was nice. He would always make me laugh. Always make me smile.
"One day, I asked if he wanted to get something to eat with me after he finished club. He agreed and I ended up going shopping with a friend. I went to the school to meet him but I saw him walking out with a girl. It was around then I started hearing them. You know, the thoughts. By the time I got home my head was pounding and I couldn't stop thinking so I just went to sleep.
"The next morning, I tried to brush it off like nothing happened. It never really went away though. It kept bothering me. At lunch he was confronted about it and he apologized. Even though he did and I said everything was fine, they didn't go away. I was terrified. I had the headaches once, maybe two times, since I came here. The thoughts never before then. I told him I wasn't okay. That him forgetting really did bother me.
"When I got to school the next morning he tried to talk to me but I couldn't take it. It was all happening at once. It was suffocating. I did the one thing I thought could end it. I told him I didn't think we should be together. That's when I texted you."
Hwiyoung wasn't sure when he started crying. All he knew was that now he was and he hurt. Not only from the headache that came with thinking about everything, but in his hands where he had squeezed them into tight fists, in his shoulders that felt as if they were carrying the weight of the world. Chanho pulled him into his chest and held him. Hwiyoung sobbed into the boy's shirt.
"I'm sorry. I probably should have asked at home. I wasn't thinking. Let's go." Chanho said softly after Hwiyoung began to calm down. The pair stood up and walked in the direction of the house. Chanho's grip was tight on Hwiyoung's hand. It was as if he were scared he would slip away.
