The doorbell rings and thankfully I just finished prepping up. I check myself one last time in the mirror before grabbing my phone and jogging downstairs. I open the door, expecting to see Luke, but his three best friends come into view. I raise my eyebrow in confusion as they do the same to me as they look at me from head to feet.
"What are you wearing?" Calum asks.
I'm a little bit surprise that Calum is here after everything that happened a few days ago. I haven't had seen him since that day, even in school, because he suddenly stopped hanging out with the three of them. Now, to just suddenly see him with Ashton and Michael is kinda weird but I guess that's just it. They're all best friends and I know how much they can't be all together for even just a day, but I decide to drop the whole Calum thing and just go with it. If they're all okay now then let it be that way.
I look down at myself. "Shirt and jeans?"
"But you're meeting Luke's mom, remember?" Michael crosses his arms.
I scoff. "I know. Luke wore the same thing when he met mine."
Well, not exactly. The day when Luke met my mom in just his boxers crosses my mind.
"But we're talking about Luke's mom." Calum groans as though I should have known about this stuff already. "She's... she's really... damn, guys, help me out here."
"You're the first girl Luke will ever introduce to her mom," Ashton tries to explain. I still really don't get their main point here. "And Luke's mom is just really... damn, I can't find the right word to describe her, but she's really picky or something. Since you're the first girl Luke will take home, she might think that he will marry you."
My eyes widen. "W-what? No way."
"I know," Michael whines as if he's begging me for something. "So at least try to change into something more formal or something. Don't wear casual."
I groan as I roll my eyes at them then I open the door wider in the same time so they can enter. I go back to my room and open my closet. I stand in front of it for a minute or two, thinking of what should I wear.
Okay, I'm nervous when Luke told me that he wanted me to meet his mom, but now, I got extremely more nervous because of what the others had told me. What if she wouldn't like me?
After another minute, I finally decide to wear the floral dress that mom bought me a few months ago then I finish it with the only wedge shoes I own. I swear I will kill Luke for forcing me to wear this high wedge. He knows that I'm really not the type of girl who will wear heels for fun.
When I go back downstairs, the boys are sitting on the couch with the television on. Calum is the only one watching while Ashton and Michael are on their phones. When they finally realize I'm there, they look up at me and smile.
"That's better," Calum says. "Come on. Let's go."
They're using Ashton's car. Obviously, Ashton's driving while Calum is in the passenger's seat while Michael and I are in the backseat. I'm still not used on riding in a sports car because of how fast it is that I always have to grip on my seat every single time. That's why sometimes, I prefer that Luke and I will just walk towards our destination or take the bus instead of using his car.
"Just act cool." Michael says when we're finally near at Luke's house. "Everything's alright."
I hiss. "I'm acting cool. It's you guys who are like panicking here. Why are you guys even here?"
"Auntie's throwing a dinner party." Ashton answers, glancing at me through the rearview mirror. I'm starting to notice that Calum's not talking at all. He's just staring outside the window. "She always does when she's coming home. Luke's dad doesn't normally come home because someone always needs to stay in New York and that's always Luke's dad and when she's throwing a dinner, we're always invited."
