Kelsey and I chatted for the next 20 minutes. She told me about her brothers, Jake and Nelson, who were twin 5 year olds. And then about her 18 year old brother Mark. They sounded pretty cool. I didn't tell her about my life. No one needed to know that. I made up things, about my 'dad' and my 'cousins'. She seemed pretty convinced. We talked music, and celebrities, and school. She told me about teachers, mean kids, and homework. We shared jokes and laughed til' we fell of the seats. Over all, it was a pretty fun time,, but kept my walls high. Thinking about what I was going to saw. Never letting my guard down. Then she asked me a question I couldn't answer.
"Why are you lying to me?" She asked. I was startled.
"What? I,I don't know what you're talking about!" I replied. How could she know? I thought back to what I had said and then I realized. Jen didn't have a sister. Everyone knew that. I mentally face palmed. I had rambled on about Jens 'sister' but Kelsey knew.
"Do play dumb Hope." She sighed.
Kelsey's P.O.V
Hope, was a bad liar. It was obvious when she was bluffing. She told me about fake things. I pretended to go along with it, but no. It was just not my jam, being lied to by a girl who thinks she the all and mighty. Sure we all have secrets, mine worse than others but hers couldn't be that bad. Not as bad as mine...
The bus screeched to a halt. I groaned. This, was Tracy's stop. Tracy Mansfield. The school bully. The school mean girl. Whatever you want to call her, she was bad news. She was also my 'best friend' note my sarcasm. Let me explain something. There were two elementary schools in our town. (Let's pretend fifth grade is middle school for them) There's also only one middle school. So when both schools move into Littleton Prep everybody know the 'popular kids' from their school. So when the popular kids from both schools meet, they usually form a popular kids 'clan'. I was in that clan. See I was only popular because my dad was rich. Or so I told people. At first, I wanted to be popular. So, I lied to everyone and told them my dad was a world class billionaire, when really, it was a struggle to stay in a house. I never invited anyone over. I built my walls so high, no one could penetrate them. That's the way I liked it. I was that girl, that everyone thought was a mystery, only letting people see what she wanted them to see. Tracy took an immediate liking to me. Although she thought she knew everything, she was as blind as anyone else. Tracy was only using me, I could see it her eyes. That's what I hated about her. On the outside she was little miss twinkle toes, but on the inside, not so princess perfect. Her parents spoiled her. Everyone knew that. Her house was huge! I had been over there many times. Had she ever been to my house? No. I kept my self cooped up. Only relieving tiny bits over myself. It was like a game! A game of-
"Look I don't know what you mean Kelsey!" Hope said panicked. I rolled my eyes at her playfully.
"Sure!" I chuckled. Just like everyday, I was gonna pretend I didn't care, pretend that I just went with the flow. Pretend I was someone else. That's when I saw Tracy, strutting though the rows of grey seats like she was too cool for us. I felt anger boiling up inside like I always did when I saw her. She walked over to me a frowned,
"Who's the new chic?" She sneered.
Helloooo! So I'm gonna keep this short. Hope is going into middle school. In their town, middle school is fifth through eighth grade. Just wanted to clear that up. ONE COMMENT for chappie 10.
Thanks!
Izzy😘
