The dog

I stood under the hot water, ahh, luxury. I was in the GIANT shower that was in my new room. I had washed my hair for the first time in a while, and I was feeling good. I slowly stepped out, feeling the cold air hit me body, I shivered. I wrapped a towel around me and went to go pick out an outfit. I choose whatever I saw first in my bag. I didn't really have any good clothes so I was looking forward to going shopping.

I was walking down the stairs to go get breakfast when I saw it. An adorable golden retriever puppy was just sitting there on the sidewalk he was dirty he was thin and he looked very sad. My heart melted right on the spot. I heard Jens door open and I beckoned her forward, showing her the dog.

"Can we take care of him? Just for a little? Please!" I pleaded. She bit her lip,

"Well-" she started.

"I'll take really good care of him! I promise!" I interrupted, praying she would say yes.

"Oh alright, but only if it doesn't have a collar." I was bounding down the stairs before she could even finish. I flung open the door and ran to the puppy, who started licking my hand and purring. Wait purring? Well thats what it did, literally purr.

"Oh who's a cute boy, yes you are yes you are!" I said to him. And lucky

For me, he didn't have a collar! I picked him up and brought him inside. He immediately darted for the couch and Heaved muddy body onto it. I laughed.

"He needs a bath!" Jen said from the kitchen, peering around the door and looking at the dog.

"What should we name him?" I asked.

"Hmmm, oh that's it! Scruffy!" She shouted. I smiled, and patted Scruffy.

"Can we call him Scruff for short?" I asked.

"Perfect!!!!!!!!" Jen said. I grinned again, giddily. In two days, my life had been turned upside down, an I was loving it!

Three hours later

"Hope?!?" Jen called up the stairs. I stood up from where I had been playing with Scruff, and dusted my self off. I walked down the curvy stairs, pulling my hand along the banister. When I got down stairs Jen was sitting on the couch. I sat down next it her.

"Look Hope," she began. "I know you just got here, and everything's fine and dandy, but you realize summer is ending soon, and you're gonna have to go to school." She waited nervously for my reply. I didn't really know how to feel about it, I mean, sure i'd be at a new school, new people, new bullies. But then again, people wouldn't dare to bully me, I was staying with Jennifer Lawrence! And then would come the lies, the fake friends, more lies, and just one web of lies to the next. And then there came homework and-

"I'll do it." I said confidently.

"Oh great honey!" She leaned over and hugged me. Then we felt a heavy lump land on us,

"Scruffy!!!!" We both laughed. I really felt like I had a family.
