"His ex WHAT? Come again??" I couldn't believe it. Adam was 28! I thought he would have had exes for sure, but an ex wife??

Chester squeezed his eyes tightly. "Perhaps I shouldn't have said that..."

"Chester he was married?"

"It was an arranged marriage. Adam was the heir to the largest fortune in North America, and Sofia was the heiress to the largest fortune in South America. It was a match made in Central America, in a resort on a private island."

"When did this happen?"

"The engagement happened when Adam and Sofia were both 16. You know how billionaire parents arrange marriages for teenagers all the time. Like all the time. No one ever gets engaged when they're over the age of consent in most developed countries if they're rich. Of course Adam and Sofia never met when they got engaged, they weren't even invited to the engagement party. They vaguely knew of each other but had no clue who they were getting engaged to except that it was the child of their parents' family friend."

"Dang."

"Dang indeed. They met for the first time when they were 18 at Harvard, by chance. She accidentally spilled her drink on him at a coffee shop and he instantly fell for her. He didn't want to come off as a jerk so he pretended to be poor. She had no idea, and she was also pretending to be poor to make sure he liked her for who she was, not her money."

I was beginning to tear up. This story sounded so sweet. I had no idea Adam was so sensitive.

"What happened next?" I asked, on the edge of my seat.

"They were both pretending to be poor, but weren't very good at it. Sofia tried to show that she was good at doing peasant tasks like making instant cup noodles, but proceeded to set her dorm on fire. Adam tried to pretend he knew how to drive, and drove his car into a lecture hall. But they still never realized the other was trying to fit in with the common people. Sofia traded all her gold and precious stones for forever 21 jewelry and got horrific skin rashes. Adam ate the dreaded common man's 'wonder bread' and ruined their first date."

I wiped away the tears from my eyes. "This is so romantic!"

Chester nodded. "They hid their relationship from their parents because they knew they were both engaged to other people. Of course they were actually engaged to each other, but didn't find out until later."

"What a realistic storyline," I gasp to myself amid the tears. "When did they get married?"

"When they were 21, on a private island, while riding white horses on the beach. It was simple, yet glamorous. Absolutely Pinterest worthy."

I knew exactly what he was talking about.

"They even had kids together."

I choked on my tea. "Kids??"

"You know... small human beings, created when a mommy and daddy really love each other...."

"I know what a kid is!"

"Sorry Apple I'm just too used to talking to Adam."

"Understandable Chester. So uh... they have kids?"

"Twins. A girl and a boy."

Of course, I should have expected that.

"The daughter is named Isabeth." Said Chester.

"Isabeth? What kind of a name is that?"

"It's a combination of Isabel and Elizabeth, Sofia and Adam's mother's names. They wanted to name their daughter after their own mothers, but kept fighting over which mom. So in the end, they decided to combine the two names as a tribute to both of Isabeth's grandmothers."

"That's cute, what is the boy's name?"

"Juandrew."

"Uh.....ok.... so how old are Isabeth and Juandrew?"

"They're six years old now," said Chester fondly. "I was very close to them before the divorce. I drove them to school, made them lunch, taught them how to read because Adam couldn't, and of course I delivered them."

"What now?"

"Yeah so when Sofia went into labor, Adam didn't believe her. He though she was pranking him, because he was convinced a pregnancy with twins was supposed to be 18 months long instead of 9. So when her water broke he was convinced she had taken her prank too far. I tried to tell him that we should take her to the hospital, but he thought I was in on the prank too. Eventually Isabeth ended up being born in the living room and Adam fainted. I called 911 and they helped me with Juandrew. Adam eventually admitted that he was wrong about his timing estimate."

This was all so much to take in. Adam was married, and had kids. This is just so weird.

"They were such a happy family," continued Chester. "Sofia and Adam were surprisingly ok-ish parents."

"So what went wrong?" I ask .

Chester's expression darkened. "I'm afraid I can't tell you much more Apple. I've already revealed more than he would approve of. I hope you understand. Good night, Apple."

"Good night Chester!"
