The long ride seemed endless for Jisoo, the person to sit behind the wheels. She passed many places and hoped they would stop but the nuisance at the back told her otherwise.
"Tired?" A voice spoke, startling Jisoo. Last time she checked, all three people were deep in sleep and weren't gonna be up for another twenty minutes.
She gazed at Taehyung's face sideways and nodded a little. A yawn escaped her mouth unconsciously, welling her eyes with tears naturally.
Taehyung straightened his posture and gazed at the steering wheel, "I can drive, you should rest." He said.
Jisoo smiled and slowed down the speed, "As much as I would love that, I don't want you to sit behind the wheel right now."
He frowned and shot an incredulous look towards Jisoo, "May I ask why?"
Jisoo clenched her jaw and slowed down even more, "Tae, you were having nightmares just now, weren't you?"
Silence fell upon them.
She remembered just how his lips trembled and he muttered inaudible words, occasionally groaning. The memory of sweat beads rolling down his forehead was fresh in her mind too. He wasn't in his best state right now and for him to drive, he needed to recharge and be free from any trace of horrid dreams.
"Yes."
He whispered, the vulnerability in his voice concerned Jisoo so much. A look of sympathy was flashing on her face as well.
"I'm sorry, I tried my best to wake you up." She bit her lip as her hands clutched the steering wheel tighter.
He shook his head and sighed, "It's not your fault I'm a mess,"
Jisoo wanted to help him escape his hell, she wanted him to be free from any sort of pain. He didn't deserve it, no one did.
Jisoo chose to stay silent, hoping Taehyung would speak up about his problems himself. But he didn't.
The soft humming of Jisoo was filling the atmosphere as the light snores of the two passed out members at the back joined.
Taehyung didn't say a word for five minutes, his breaths were heavy as Jisoo heard his heartbeat fasten. The silence was an awkward one, so Jisoo decided to start a conversation.
"Your heart sure is beating fast, what's wrong?"
"Maybe because you're here," he muttered, thankfully not loud enough for Jisoo to listen.
Jisoo raised an eyebrow, "What? Couldn't hear you."
"Nothing, I guess-"
Before he could respond, the car came to an abrupt stop.
That's when his eyes moved towards Jisoo, who was just inches away from him. Her eyes sparkled as she gazed up at him. A tantalising finger wandered on his face, he stared at her wide eyed.
Their breaths were mingled as their chests moved up and down. The position was intimate and made Taehyung nervous, how her finger kept on moving in circles on his face. The forehead, his under eye and then towards his lips.
She moved it in a sultry way over his lips just as he whispered and grabbed her wrist, "What are you doing?"
She glared at him, a vicious glare. His heart picked up an even faster pace at the reference to intimacy that she was doing with her actions rather than words.
He had never seen Jisoo this serious, considering she always had a smile on her face. Her expression and eyes both were dark, she had a great effect on him.
"Why do you always catch a fever?"
The words that left her mouth made him drop his jaw, he didn't realize it was just Jisoo, being Jisoo.
She chuckled and placed a hand on his hand and freed her wrist. "Dude listen, your immune system sure is very weak."
Taehyung had a red tint on his face at the scenario that just occurred, "Perhaps. But you should've just placed your hand on my forehead, being serious just ain't your thing."
She laughed at his words and then turned her attention back to the road, pressing against the race as they continued their journey.
"Let's get you there quick now, I don't want you to not enjoy this mini trip." She smiled.
Taehyung didn't say anything and just nodded.
"Hey Tae?"
"Yeah?"
"Wanna talk about what's been troubling you?"
He froze in his spot and didn't dare move a muscle. He had never opened up to anyone about his problems, he felt no one cared. But the beauty besides him broke the tradition.
He didn't wanna talk about it, he knew he'll break down and look like a whole mess in front of the girl he has mega feelings for. So much emotional baggage from a guy wasn't appealing for Taehyung.
"No,"
"Taehyung." The tone in Jisoo's voice scared him.
He didn't want to hurt Jisoo with his troubles, the nightmares, the sleepless nights and the depressing thoughts all irked him. He wanted to protect Jisoo from his dark side, which came to haunt his poor soul.
"Jisoo, it's complicated."
Jisoo sighed and nodded in understanding, "Sure, but promise me that when you're comfortable enough, you'll share? Let me burden some of your pain on myself too," she sadly smiled.
He smiled, "Promise."
